Hi Rania & Sanjay,

It was great to see you guys too !
It's going to be a beautful street with great neighbours :D

When we purchased we chose some upgrades ie. alternate kitchen & rough in the bsmnt for future wshrm. I think we got 10% credit of this amount towards upgrades. We have aprox $150. Is this what you mean ?! If there is another $200+ we'll take it !!!
Let us know.

We havent yet decided if we will pay or add to the mortgage. If you have the $$$ it makes sense to pay otherwise you will be adding interest to the upgrades too.

Have a wonderful holiday season & we are looking forward to 2010 !!!

Sarah & Charles

Just so you know, Sundays they have a security person & street access is blocked off.
Best to go on Saturday while the workers are there or park on Snider Terrace & walk from the back onto our street.
Good Luck !!!

That's too bad that we missed everyone at the DC...we're dying to check it out and even with living across the street from it, somehow we haven't been able to make it over there. I really want to see what upgrade level are the kitchen cabinets I'm in love with and also our main floor tile.

We're going to be paying for our upgrades in full, but we're in a slightly different situation as we already sold our home and are living with family so our equity is now sitting in a high interest savings account from which we'll dip into to cover upgrades...for us it's better to lower the principal borrowing amount and avoid paying interest on upgrades.
We've gone through our upgrade book and have figured out our upgrades for the most part...there are a few items we don't see eye to eye and a few that are on our wish list that we may not end up going with! Hope everyone had a great Christmas and Happy New Year to everyone...it will definitely be an exciting year to come!

Happy New Year everyone !

Thanks for the update Amanda & glad all went well for your appt.

We have our appt late next week. It will be an expensive day

You mentioned a price change ... were some prices higher at the DC ?!

Feb/March seems early, when we bought Nick said our construction will start in June. Maybe they are early ?!
We dont mind though. It will be a fun Spring/Summer.

Ivana, hope you've had a chance to get to the DC. There is lots to see & choose. It's fun too, good luck !

Yes, we finally made it to the design centre. It was a little disappointing as we had decided to go with white cabinets, but Frendel doesn't do painted maple and we don't want thermafoil or mdf, so we had to rethink our whole idea. Mike's grumpy mood didn't help...lol! We've decided to do espresso (I'm sure that's what most are going with) and are happy with this so we just have to get over there and start picking out tiles, counter, etc. to match. I think we have a good idea what we're doing in terms of structural....our appt. is next week!

I'll post what we decide to go with!

Glad all went well for your guys...Amanda and Zeus. Good luck at yours Sarah and Charles!

Have a great week guys!

Ivana

Hi gang, Hope everyone is well !

Ivana - Good Luck at your appt tomorrow. I hope all goes smooth for you.
We have our appt on Thurs afternoon.
We pretty much know what we are choosing. We just need some prices
that were not in our book.

Thanks Mandy for the info re your appt,
we will be sure to take our pricing book with us.

I know our 2nd DC appts are not booked yet but ...
This wknd we went to Olympia & Centura tile in T.O., they are all in the same area.
We bought samples of the floor tiles we like/saw at the DC.
This was a great help to us to see in the natural lighting in our home.
The DC lighting is not accurate.
If you are unsure about a certain tile, I suggest doing this.

Good Luck !

Good luck to everyone else!

Our next one is on March 5th!

Hi Gordon

We did the following:

- pot lights on main level
- deleted lights, moved lights and added lights
- smooth ceilings (we already get the 9 ft)
- Executive kitchen
- Closed a wall
- Alternate kitchen layout
- Added a tiled hallway (option on our model)
- Plasma ready kit in home office/family room/bedroom
- Upgraded all fixtures in the ensuite
- We added alot of switches for our potlights
- extra electrical outlets
- extra lights/outlets in the garage
- relocated hose bib
- added an extra cold water and hot water hose bib
- gas hook ups for dryer, stove and BBQ
- oak stairs and square profile pickets
- 8 foot frameless mirrored sliders and 8 foot doors on main floor
- double sinks in ensuite and main bath
- water line for the fridge
- valance lighting
- crown lighting
- exterior pot lights
- pot light above bath tub in ensuite
- telephone and cable in each bedroom
- relocated telephone from Kitchen to family room (I hate when you have unnecessary outlets in your backsplash, takes away from the look of the tile)
- We want to delete the cabinet above the stove to accommodate for a chimney hood range but Mattamy is looking into it as we may only be able to do a partial deletion and in that case we'll do the OTR and shorten the cabinet.
- frameless glass shower door

That's all I can think of for now. We almost did the frameless shower and jacuzzi bath, but backed out of it.

Good luck to everyone else that's going. Sarah, we set the record for the longest appointment and that's because Mike asks a ton of questions and analyzes every choice...lol.

Take care guys,
Ivana

Hi Everyone,

Our scheduled appt today was cancelled because Patrizia is sick & was not in the office.
We don't yet have a new appt date but it will be sometime in early Feb.

Gordon,
We are doing our hardwood & granite after closing.
Check out Elite Granite in Milton, we got a price that was considerably less than Mattamy.
Here is the link I posted in the advertisement forum ...
http://www.hawthornevillager.com/phpbb/ ... hp?t=23377

Ivana,
We were in a Hazelnut home like yours in Vista this past wknd.
I took some pics, if you'd like I can email them to you.
They also had the alternate kitchen layout where the sink is in the island.
I had some concerns I can share with you.

Sarah

Gordon...I just e-mailed "patrob" on this forum for a quote. If we go with hardwood it won't be through Mattamy as they're expensive and I honestly don't like their hardwood either. We'll be doing the install before we move in after close. Hope this helps.

Iva
