Would love one but I'm always weary about 1st gen gadgets, esp from Apple.

Personally, I'd wait for the jailbreak, simply for the multi-tasking, but who knows what the 4.0 OS will bring tmw.

I really debated purchasing an IPAD, and opted to wait until 2.0 comes out.

Hopefully IPAD 2.0 has a USB port, SD card reader and is Flash compatible. Built-in web cam couldn't hurt either.

Also hopefully future versions have a 128 GB or 256 GB memory option.

I would have bought one, but it lacked an HDMI input (biggest drawback IMO).

If you really want a tablet, wait for the HP Slate.

Why would you want to feed HDMI into it? It would be a rather expensive monitor.

I agree, I'll be waiting for the second gen as well. It hurts though... I feel like I need a shiny new toy and this one is oh so shiny. ;)

My wish list is a camera/webcam like they have on the laptops, more memory, and preferably a lower cost. I'll need to play with one at an apple store to see if its worth the current price.

As much as I'd like to see a USB port or SD card reader I really don't think its going to happen. Apple enjoys their closed devices.

From what I'm reading the next OS release is going to support multi-tasking which will be very nice.

Nope. Not getting one...and I really love my toys :)

I don't see any advantage an iPad has over owning an iPhone (which I do, and I love!) except that the screen is obviously bigger. Plus, it doesn't act as a phone and I don't really want another monthly service bill for 3G coverage if that becomes available. I don't like that only one app can be used at a time, so as a person who habitually runs about 3-5 programs at once for business, it wouldn't work for me. For personal, entertainment use for iTunes, videos and games it would be great, but again, my iPhone already takes care of that...

The shiney screen deters me from using it as an eReader as does the touch screen. I purchased a Kindle a few weeks ago after doing some research here and online and in the stores and I have to say, LOVE LOVE LOVE it! (and 3G coverage for wireless downloads are free!)

I really wanted to love the iPad but so far, I don't.

Here's another option set to come out in the near future. Just heard about it this morning...

I'd agree with Kevin as well, I've owned an HP tablet and loved it (that was a few years ago though) so I can only imagine they have gotten better...

I'll probably pick one up a bit later once the hoopla dies down.

Reason being is I can integrate them into the home automation systems that I do and use them as a control panel. I already do this with iTouchs and iPhone and the application also works on the iPad.

But the lack of other features such as USB, no flash, etc.. make it difficult for me to justify as a web browsing device. My $300 Netbook does all of that.

The HP Slate will dominate the IPAD in every way imaginable except in it's prissy, clichy, elitist image that apple products represent.

It has get this....a USB port...and a CAMERA!! unheard of in this day and age... lol

What always makes me laugh when I see people playing with their iDevices is how they almost always use them just like the handle models in the commercials.

Either iDevice users are incapable of original thought (which explains why they went with a more expensive inferior product) or their iDevice is incapable of original use.

Maybe a bit of both? :P

(Yes, this was 1/3 joking, 1/3 being an apple hater, and maybe 1/3 truth ... just in case there is any confusion)
