The call starts off "You have won a prize of $1500"...all you have to do is come and pick it up from 1500 Drew Rd. in Mississauga (Miss. & Dixie). The total call lasts 8 1/2 minutes while they verify your information. They picked my name from a ballot I filled out (I never fill out ballots); so I asked them what my first name was? They didn't know. Then they said I could pick from 5 different prizes - WOW!!! Then I was transfered to a manager to discuss my secret password - COOL!!! In the last 30 seconds of the call, I was told I would have to stay at the meeting for about 60 minutes so they could draw the GRAND PRIZE!!! I pretended to be old and feeble minded and agreed I would be at the meeting tomorrow...not.

I've got you beat! My husband got a letter addressed to him last week all the way from South Africa. Due to some dude and his family dying, my hubby gets 25% of $118 MILLION dollars!!! Woo hoo!! I've got it spent already!

I knew they emailed these things, but didn't realize they actually snail mailed letters!!

Nope, no address, just a phone number and fax number.

Oops, just reread it, this was supposed to be a secret. They "are going to make all the underground arrangement secretly here inside the bank"... It's a "confidential business plan and should be treated as private"...

They don't use spell check in South Africa either....

Wow...my wife got the *same* phone call yesterday at around 6pm-ish.

They also booked a price accepting thingy for us at the same address today. I kept on asking if they're trying to sell us something (she passed the phone to me after talking to them for awhile). They said no, but yeah if they're asking you to stay for an hour or so to see their presentation, I'm fairly certain they are going to try and sell something. We're not sure if we're going or not. Likely not. We've gone to a few of these before, you usually get a short cruise or short hotel stay but you have to travel to florida (if it's cruise, the cruise usually departs from somwhere in the USA and air travel's not included) and it's not actually free. There's always some hidden admin charge or something.

How do people doing this live with themselves?

Not exactly related to your story, but we had some landscaper come to our house while I was at work last week. My wife answered the door, and they guy said “I’m here to do your lawn aeration”, another guy was already unloading the equipment onto our lawn. My wife, thank god, was smart enough to ask questions. She had never heard of these guys, and I never mentioned calling a lawn company. He kept insisting that “your husband booked with us”, and when she insisted that, no, I probably didn’t, and if you don’t get off my lawn I’ll call the cops, he began calling her names. She slamed the door in his face, and then the guy had the nerve to leave a flyer in the door.

A1 Landscaping. A bunch of slimy pigs.

I know its off topic but I got a telemarketing call last night from somewhere, I didnt get the name because I was in the middle of doing some work on the computer. There was an extra long period before someone answered the call...and I try to be as polite as possible so I asked what it was regarding and the guy said "why do you want to know that?"

I said youre calling me, Im busy so could you get to the point. He kept on asking why I wanted to know so I just said, thanks but no thanks and hung up.

Bugger called me right back and asked what I had said...I told him get to the point or im hanging up and he kept saying what I had said before. Told him I dont remember..."you dont remember?" Yes thats right, but I do remember I hung up on you...and proceeded to hang up.

For about 5 mintues after that, the phone kept ringing over and over with no answer. I let a few go to voice mail but the calls kept coming.

They stopped after 5 minutes and thats the last I heard of it. I googled the phone number but nothing came up.

Just thought Id mention that...it was wierd.

LOL, so my dh got the same call as the OP. He happened to be on the computer at the time so while the guy was talking to him about winning a TV or $1500 or whatever, he was googling the Drew Road address. All this stuff came up about ti being a scam etc. Basically they are trying to get you to buy furniture, some kind of pay up front thing. So my dh started asking the guy questions, about what he's reading online and how people are saying it's a scam......the guy hung up on him LOL.

Same thing, received this call around dinner 6:15 PM this past Sunday talked to the guy for at least 30 min.. lol, I kept stringing along for as long as I could since I wasn't doing anything anyways.. Same MO about both husband and wife coming along but no one else, etc.. He kept calling me Mike which is my oldest son and whom the phone number is listed under... I managed to get the website from him as follows www.pbcinc.ca which is something called the Premium Buyers Club, obviously a scam imo... Here is a link to another discussion group talking about the same thing..

Found another thread on RedFlags, looks like this has been around for a few years in various forms...
