So, our kitchen lights just burnt out (both of them, within a week of each other). I went to change it, and realized that I do not have a clue how to get at the bulbs. I think it is a standard Mattamy fixture (we have the same one in every room except for those with dimmers).

There are 3 metal holder things that are clearly involved.

So, yeah, I am embarrassed, but I have to ask, because I don't know how to proceed

You just be able to pull one of the three metal tabs and slide out the globe.

So, you pull it straight out (horizontal to the floor) or does it hinge upwards?

I sorta tried both, and before I applied a greater amount of force, I wanted to double check...

One of the three little clips is actually on a spring. You pull it parallel to the floor. Once you find the one that moves, it's really easy to remove the globe.
