Does anyone know where we could find transparent (see through) privacy films so it allows us to see outside but people cannot look inside (i.e. it looks like a mirror from the outside)?
We have a side lot and Mattamy decided to flip our floorplan so now our powder room faces a big open space. The window sits so low people can see everything and the window is about 2-3 feet away from property line. I want as much natural light coming in as possible so covering up the window completely is not an option. Thanks for the advice.

No, not really. That would be our last resort. We have this DIY, self-adhesive frosting film on the window where we live now and it blocks a lot of light.

Dont they sell it at Home Depot?

No, we checked it already. Tried the Web as well but not much info. 3M used to have it but doesn't seem they sell it anymore.

Jay Markusich, 905-875-4192, at Flim Inc. He put privacy film on many of our windows including our bathrooms, the kitchen bay window, great room and all the bedrooms. It's great!!

You can be standing right outside the window and you can't see a thing inside, yet it still lets in natural light. Doesn't work at night of course so you will still need to have a window covering on your powder room, but during the day you can have the window coverings wide open with complete privacy.

Home Depot does sell it they have it in there window treatment department. You can buy some that look like stain glass an other that look frosted or an eached look

Ikea also sells the one that looks like cubes

Micheals sells this stuff in a bottle that you apply yourself it called Gallery Glass, you can design your own design

You could also try Canadian tire, some Vehicle window privacy films/tints have the effect you're looking for.

Custom vinyls to define your space.

I did two things:

Purchased inflector and installed it on selected windows that had the most sun.

Then found a less expensive solution from Toronto and over the internet and installed it on most of my other windows.

With the Inflector product, the window film sits inside a screen frame and you place it as you would a screen in the windows recess. In the summer you select the silver side out to reflect the sun/uv rays. This reduces the heat allowed into the home from the windows. I like it because it cut down on my AC bills. My neighbour would come over and be suprised that my AC was not on and my house was cool. With the silver side out, you have daytime privacy and nobody will see into your house. At night, if an inside light is on, you will be able to see into the house.

With Inflector in the winter, you flip the screen around and have the black side facing outwards. This creates heat due to the sun/uv rays hitting the black surface. Apparently this acts like a small heater. I can feel the heat generated, but I don't see a huge impact during the winter months as I do with the summer months.

As you can see on the left side of the house, some windows have the inflector black side facing out.

Another option was to purchase from the internet a product called EZsnap from http://www.ezsnapdirect.com/

All I did was purchase the snaps and found a place to purchase the silver/black film locally, then used my some common knowledge on how to install the film on sliding windows and patio doors.

The time is now to purchase the product because summer is coming and you can recoup you $$ right away.

At Lowe's they have something like that
I put it on my front doors
The only problem is that at night you can see inside the house if you have your lights on, not much though, I still have one roll left, they cost around 20$

Thank you for all your responses. We love this forum as there is just so much info from a lot of people wanting to help. I guess we have our work cut out for us to find the best solution.
