I was told by quite a few people that it is harder to get parts for an LG appliance so it is better to stick with something made in North America. LG's are actually assembled in Germany although it is an Asian/Oriental (or something close i dont rmember anymore) company. One guy actually told me he went to get parts for a fridge and next door was an LG parts place and in the back of the store there were large bins full of fridges. The consensus was if you get a Lemon you have a bad one and one that are not leoms are amazing. My paretns have the first one that came out about 3 years ago (the model that they then put the TV in) and they love it never a problem.....IMO if you are going to buy any appliance go to Sears if they cannot fix it they will replace it....they also match the Brick builder discount that we get.....

I have the GE fridge, it was the Brita model with the freezer pull out drawer on the bottom. I love it. (Except for the fact that my husband dropped the built in Brita as he was filling it and broke it.... ) I can only imagine how much they are gonna charge me when it comes time to replace it.

It has a lot of space as well....you get a lot of bang for you buck on the cubic space with the way that the inside is designed/organized.

Just wanted you to know that we have the Side - By - Wide Maytag fridge and we've had it for 4 years now and have not had one problem.
Its a great fridge and one advantage that's huge is if you are having a party and need to store a couple of prearranged trays of food, they will fit. Same thing for the freezer. You can't really do this in a regualr side by side. The only thing I found to be negative is that it doesn't come counter depth and that means it will stick out. We love it and would have bought it again for our new house, however we need a counter depth to go in our Pantry.

BTW, We bought at Sears and they do a price match so if you go somewhere else, like Home Show/Brick, and get a quote....Sears will match it no questions. We saved huge at Sears!

We also have the Maytag Wide-By-Side and it is fabulous - with more space than a regular side by side, and great for partys or any large cakes or platters.

We are really pleased with it, definetly the best fridge we've ever had.

We were looking @ the GE profile line as well...one quick question about the electric convection oven...does it take forever to heat up or is it reasonable quick? Can't stand those ovens that take 20+ minutes to warm up!!

We have an LG Fridge with french doors, and bottom freezer, and ours was not recalled. Apparently it affects only the fridges made during a span of 3 or 4 months in early 2005...

Sorry for bringing this topic to live again! Is it true that stainless steel appliances are not scratch resistant and that some brands scratch more easily than the other? Any comments and suggestions are greatly appreciated.
