I take Steeles down all the way from James snow to Dixie. Takes me roughly 30 minutes.

I go a bit farther north than 410 and WP, and it only takes me 35 minutes... and I leave at 7am.

I use the 407 though. $3 for half an hour of my time is a steal. I also carpool which helps mitigate some of the cost.

I know there is one that uses Chinguacousy but I forget...I'll have to get a map out.

take 25 to 5 side road, all the way mississauga road, make a left and then a right again at queen street to chinguacousy

That's the route I'm taking every morning. Around 50 min from HVE to Main/410.

This is what I do as well... I travel into Brampton frequently and it's usually about 40 minutes...

Starting next week, I need to commute to Brampton (Tobram & Steeles area) every day. I plan to use 407 both ways.
Which is the best way to 407? I live in Thompson and Yates area.
1) I am thinking of taking Steeles, hop on 401 at Trafalgar and then 407. Is 401 packed between Trafalgar and 407 very busy?
2) Is it better to go hwy 25 south and take 407 there? Although I prefer not to go south and then north again.
3) Which is the best exit to take to get back to Milton? Derry Road?
I can't wait for construction on Derry Road to be done!
Your input is greatly appreciated.
TIA
Mary

I tend to suffer along Derry because the speed usually isn't any better on the 401. The only real advantage to the 401 is it will cost you a little less on the 407. I find if I get to Derry and James Snow by 7 or very shortly after I don't end up waiting too long at Trafalgar.

We take the 407 every day, from 401 to North York. I've tried using Derry, Steeles, etc...to get to 407, but it's still faster to take 401.

We get on at James Snow around 7:50 and like clock work, we are on the 407 by 8:00am. So it's about 10 mins to get from James Snow to 407 ramp.

Mary,
Getting to the Trafalgar exit onto the 401 is a problem right now, but once you are on, it's very little time to get onto the 407.

Coming home, take the 401 exit off of the 407. Since they have extended one of the off-ramp lanes into the on-ramp at Trafalgar, it's very fast to get back onto Trafalgar. You basically don't have to actually get onto the main lanes of the 401. After that, North to Steeles or south to Derry, your choice.

Thank you all for your response. I will try the 401 route because by the sound of it, its not as bad as I thought.

Thanks
Mary

I leave Derry and Thompson area approximately 6:55am and travel Derry to Trafalgar where I go north to Steeles. I turn right and then make a left onto 8th line. I follow along here until 10 sideroad where I take a right. I follow until Winston Churchill where I go left down the hill into Norval. At the lights I turn right onto Bovaird Drive (hwy7) and continue staright across until I am at the hospital at Bramalea Road. My entire journey take about 35-40 minutes, no crawling traffic. If I take Derry to 407 to 410 to Bovaird, I make it in 25 minutes.
