I almost always shop food basics first, then just get the things I can't get there, like PC products, at the superstore.

So I'd just shop Food Basics. A strike would save me money, no more buying that damn tempting Joe stuff!

+1 for Walmart...With the exception of a couple gluten-free products, that's where we get all of our groceries...Great prices and they'll price-match sales from other stores if required.

Sometimes it's cheaper, but if not then it is exactly the same price. I guess what a lot of people don't know is that Walmart matches prices with competitors.

Instead of going to Metro, Superstore, Food Basics, etc, I just go to Walmart and they'll match all the deals.

Plus, I like the quality at Walmart versus Food Basics or Metro. Sometimes their meat selection is lacking, so I'll take a trip elsewhere. But usually, all my shopping is done at Walmart.

Best part of Wal-mart is that they will price match if you bring in any other grocery store's flyer. Even meat/grocery if it is sourced from the same country.

Yea, I saw a video on redflagdeals about this and I am all up for savings but I would feel awkward holding up the line and trying to price match from different flyers...do you guys actively do this...maybe I will start doing it as well...

Why not? I do it to save money. No point in spending more when you don't have to.

It doesn't take that long to match products as long as you know what you're doing. You'll get the hang of it young apprentice. Much to learn you have.

Ok cool......so even produce they match? (which could be from different vendors)

Also, do the cashiers give you any hassle or do they all know the drill when you start to pull out the flyers. I hope they don't start paging their Manager...

Absolutely.

Most cashiers I've checked out with all knew what was going to happen when I pulled out the flyers. I just make it easier on myself and the cashier by being polite. You can get pretty far by being polite. Some cashiers will also match products that don't match 100%. You have to pick your cashier.

It's really an art form.

IMO, it also helps to have the pages the items are on written down and circled.

Wow, you guys have a lot of time on your hands! I'd hate to be behind you in line @ the cashier. This reminds me of the ghettos of Rexdale, surprised it happens in Milton.

Why? Money grows on trees for you! :)

I haven't attempted the price matching suggested up but I fully support it and would probably start to do it myself one day.

Most of us run like chickens with their head cut off to make more and more money but why not take the time to stretch your dollar a bit...

Generally the Walmart prices are already adjusted to match the sale prices of other local stoes ahead of time so it's not normally a case of having to bring in a stack of flyers. We even had a cashier offer to price match another store one day without us even asking (apparently Food Basics had grapes on sale and she knew they were going to drop the price soon to match so was proactively telling people about it)...

The only grocery item that we have actively gone out of our way to ask for a price match was for pop when it was on sale and the cashier was quite willing to adjust the price with no questions/delays.

I assume this is going to mean the self checkout line will be very popular.
