I'm going crazy...I think!
This is going to sound soooo trivial and my hubby thinks I'm nuts (and hey maybe I am) but I need to see if anyone else out there thinks they're crazy too. Okay, here goes.....When we moved in last November we unpacked the boxes that go into our front hall closet, along with many others of course. All of our coats, shoes and boots--I had ALL of my nice dress boots (all leather--the brown ones, the tan ones, the burgundy ones, the purple ones, (I have a lot) and the black ones I just adore, and I'm 99.9% sure about this--have to leave a little room for error). Well, for the first month we had left a copy of our house key with Tony the head buider for our home as they hadn't finished everything and wanted to come in during the days when we were at work to complete the jobs--no problem---I'm a trusting soul (and none of my jewelry or crystals or expensive things had been unpacked yet). Anyways, about two weeks later I went to get my boots out of the front hall closet and they weren't there. In the past few months I've looked everywhere and have avoided saying anything to Mattamy because HEY maybe I am just crazy---but why would all my other boots be out and not those? I'm wondering if some workers wife has a great new pair of boots and maybe a few other things from other homes. Have you noticed anything missing? Maybe I'm not as crazy as my hubby thinks I am? Should I say something to Mattamy?

Hmmmmmm tough spot. You cannot prove anything and your boots may turn up although it does sound like you are very organized. Come to think of it, I saw PaulB walking around in some nice boots the other day.

Seriously, if it was me, I would mention it to the builder (maybe there are other complaints) but not really persue it. I also would spend a couple of hundred and get my locks changed for future peace of mind.
If you cannot find a necklace in 5 years, your first thought would be the key is back, may as well buy the peace of mind.
