Hey Rick, you have my vote (ward 7 resident in early 2011) but unfortunately, I don't live in Milton yet, still in TO. Hope you win. :D

Thank you to all those who PMed me about election signs. I was out with some volunteer help over the weekend setting them up. I still have a few more to do.

If you live in the area and would be ok with having an election sign on either the curb or lawn by your home (either or) please PM me. I would appreciate your support.

Thanks!

He he he, reacting to competition, a couple of signs came up over the week in ward 7 already....not Ricks

Most of "those" signs are on that candidate's "home" street and with his neighbours. :) (There are signs elsewhere too, but the "cluster" is on his own street.) However, all around the Bessie area there are now quite a few Rick signs now.... Well done sir!

Question...

My address is listed on my drivers license is "old milton" Coulson Ave to be exact (my parents place)...I currently reside in "new milton" with my significant other however I have yet to get my address changed. Does this effect my voting? Am I still having to vote for the old ward I was a resident in?

Hi MJD03, you can actually change your drivers licence online check out http://www.mto.gov.on.ca/english/faq/dr ... resschange

But as it may take up to 8 weeks to receive your new licence, do you have any other type of identification showing your new resident address?

Hydro bill? cable bill? telephone bill? something with your name and new resident address? Look at http://www.milton.ca/execserv/election2 ... cation.pdf for more information. You could use your current drivers licence with the old address as long as you have something on the "second piece of id" list on the bottom right.

Thanks Rick, I might have a bill or something of somekind lying around...I'm sure I can dig something up!

My license expires in November so I have to renew it anyways which is why I was waiting. I didn't want to have to do it twice!

Off the link that Rick provided...

When do I need to change my address on my driver's licence and vehicle permit?

By law, drivers and vehicle/plate owners are required to advise the ministry within six days of the address being changed.

I'd say you shouldn't be putting this off. Especially if your plates are registered to the old address.

Yeah I know :?
But I don't think anyone can prove where I live right now! haha, my mom likes to point out that half my crap is still at her place! And all of my main bills (online banking, cell phone, credit card...etc) are all still addressed to the old one.
It's not a huge deal come election time...I was just curious

So does this mean you are going to cast your ballot for a candidate outside of the ward in which you reside? Well that just violates the whole concept and value of the ward system. Lol. Just kidding. Zeeshan and I had this huge debate over why it's okay for a non-resident to run for a ward but a voter can't vote for someone outside his ward. You're a genius for finding a way around that. :D
