Hi All,

I got Curtis' name from the site and thought I would give him a call. Let me just say - he is BY FAR the best electrician I've ever met. Let me give you a run down of the services I had him perform.

(1) 9 exterior potlights
(2) 2 interior potlights
(3) addtional box to hang a light on a half wall that I have (Potlights would not fit and he gave this suggestion)
(4) 2 dimmers for (2) and (3)
(5) Digital timer for exterior potlights
(6) relocate power outlets to behind my 2 TV's
(7) run cables using home theatre plates - My wife is extremely pleased with no more wires!
(8) Exterior power outlet at lower roof level for x-mas lights (his suggestion to put this in, and didn't even charge me for it!)

Curtis is TOP notch - He's already been referred to several people I know and I will keep promoting him.

Not only was his price right in line with the cheapest of the bunch, he offers FULL ESA inspection with all his work at the cheaper contractor rates, not home owners rates, which is SIGNIFICANTLY cheaper.

He caught a problem from the builder and even though I was out of my 2 year warranty, showed me the potential severity which the builder agreed and had fixed. It was a 30 minute fix, but would have cost me over $500 as it involved Milton Hydro coming out and shutting off power to the house from the box outside while they fixed the pipe.

Without ANY hesitation - Please call Curtis if you have ANY electrical needs. He lives in Hamilton, but is in Milton on a daily basis

$65 per pot interior 1st floor, $75 second floor. Includes dimmer switch.

$75 for the ESA permit and inspection (up to 15 devices I think it is)

Thanks Deep. I'm currently collecting a list of electricians I need to call in the near future for pots in my kitchen and 3 boxes for hanging lights over my kitchen bar.

Does Curtis reply quickly to emails or is it better to call for faster response?

Hrmm - I don't know if somethings up with him lately - I've heard that a couple of times. When I was working with him, he was quite responsive.

Call first thing in the morning 8:30 or 5:30 at night - those are the times that he's not likely to have his hands full with wiring...

We used Curtis Behnke to install 11 outside pot lights & we're very happy with the service we got :D
The lights look great & the price was great too!
Much cheaper than Mr. Potlight. I highly recommend him :!:

:)

The electricity meter outside the house has a plastic conduit pipe that leads below the grade line. The geniuses who installed it, did so on an angle so when they tighetened down the pipe, the pipe cracked wide open, leaving unfettered live electicity with no breaker on it (since it when to the city electricity box). If cut, that would be deadly.

Thanks Deep for the explanation.

Often, all of the electrical conduit is visible at the side of the house before the grading is done. Sometimes the conduit also get damaged during construction or when the grading is done.

So while the house is being built and when a person takes possession, if the grading is not done then it's a good idea to inspect the whole conduit for cracks and other damage. After the grading is done most of it is usually buried and the only visible part is the conduit up to the meter.

Thank you. We've been looking for an electrician to come and install some extra plugs for us.

This was more then just grading accidentally doing it. It's difficult to explain, but essentially there were some area's of concrete that were slightly higher then other on the way down the wall (by design). They secured it to the bottom of the concrete, just above the grade. There's NO WAY they could have secured it without cracking the pipe. Instead of fixing it, they left it. They didn't even secure it on my neighbours meter which faces mine.

Just poor workmanship and pride.
