Im not the one wholl be using the laptop. If I need to answer Twitter questions, I can do so from my virtual campaign office...the Blackberry.

All Tweeting aside, I would rather take my time to pay attention to the discussion of issues and give the candidates for trustee their just due. I know that as a candidate, I would hope people who are there to listen arent doing something else.

Maybe we can contact the organizers of the Tweetup meeting to move ahead or back the time of questions.

I concurr with Mike. I understand the need for candidates to go to all-candidate meetings and it's unfortunate we have the conflict. Given that there are potentially 4 council candidates that might be attending my meeting I repsectfully ask you to make a choice between the twitter meeting or this meeting to avoid distraction and give the trustee candidates the full attention they deserve.

I'll offer the alternative of doing my best to document the questions and answers and post them here afterwards. Anyone have a video camera? We're still-camera folks. If you have questions you want asked and cannot attend, please PM me with them.

I have a video camera and tripod that I can bring, but I will probably not be there until around 730 that night. :D

Cool! Thanks Steve.

Thanks Steve,

Do I need to do anything before the meeting to my blackberry so I can get the app? Do I have to have someone in a store fix me up? Or call in to some toll free number? (Please excuse my technical ignorance). Please me know.

Thanks,

I also agree with Mike and feel that it would be quite rude to all attending to have people in the audience who are multi-tasking.
Thanks for setting this up Kim. I will see you there.

Yes, PLEASE guys I implore you. Make a choice. My husband uses his blackberry and while it's small you just can't focus on the task at hand and it is still distractiing. This is the for the trustee candidates. If the twitter councillor meeting can't be moved, please make a choice which meeting you wish to participate in. You have multiple opportunities for meetings, the trustees do not.

As I mentioned earlier I won't be doing the twitter questions while at the trustees meeting. They deserve our full attention. As a parent of a child in the public school system and one soon to be, its important to find out as much as I can from this very important position.

See you then.

I'll respect the non-tweet rule. I just saw Niraj (DiscoverMilton) tonight at Tiger Jeet Singh Public School's open house but didn't have time to talk to him about the all-candidates twitter meeting. I hope he can still move it.

Kim can you register this school trustee meeting with milton.ca's candidate meeting calendar? Doing it now will hopefully prevent more groups/organizations from booking candidate/trustee stuff the same time.

Thanks!

Thanks! Yes, that's on today's task list :)
Thanks also DiscoverMilton for your understanding! It's greatly appreciated. It's a real challenge to get meeting rooms and times in the evenings.

OK. Everything is in place! Town website has the meeting up as of yesterday, the Champion will be making mention of the meeting in today or Thursday's edition. All the trustees have been notified on both the Catholic and Public Board. Only Jafar Alam (public board candidate) is unable to make it as he'll be away on business. Might be able to including via blackberry texing but nothing conclusive there.

Doors will open to the public at 6:45 PM.
Meeting starts at 7:00 PM, goes until 9:00 PM.
Location: Milton Sports Center Banquet Hall (605 Santa Maria Blvd)

The candidates will have opening remarks, then the floor will open to questions from the audience. Paper will be on hand at the enrtrance so people can write down questions during the opening remarks or through the evening. They can be given to the moderator to ask, or ask themselves. The candidates have also been given the opportunity to bring in leaflets about themselve for distribution to the audience as people come in.

Directions to the Banquet Hall:
Park at the rear lot of the Sports Center. Go in through the rear main entrance. The Banquet Hall is immediately on your right hand side.

Here also in an interesting link that defines the job of Trustee. I found it an interesting read and might be helpful in forming questions.

I'm looking forward to meeting many of you there! Pass the word! :)

Thanks to everyone who's helped me with advice (garlis, themasons, mike cluett, rick di lorenzo, zeeshan) and helping me get the word out. I hope the meeting is a productive and informative one. Thanks to the Hawthorne Village School parent council for putting the word out for volunteers to help.

See everyone on Monday :D . Keep spreading the word. And Don't Forget To VOTE! Most important!
