At the end of the day, it's personal preference; blondes or brunettes?

I would want autotragic for a daily driver, but manual for a summer/fun car. For the purposes of this poll, I'd vote Automatic.

People who love manuals in North America are a minority, that's why manufacturers don't bother as much with them. Everywhere else around the world, manuals are more popular.

The best thing about driving manual besides being more fun is that it forces you to be more aware of the car and what's around you, because you have to downshift or up-shift depending on traffic conditions. I do believe if more people knew how to drive a manual transmission, our roads would be safer.

However, the dual-clutch transmissions now in newer cars (i.e. Porsche's PDK, some Audis and the one on the Nissan GT-R) work really well and shift extremely quickly and imperceptably.

I must say, there are some cool wives here like Devious's, Christina and Annie.

Stick's the way to go but if you're stuck in traffic more times than not, then I'd say auto.

We have one of each. Our SUV is auto/tip tronic and our car is stick. I honestly like to drive our car. Aside from it being fun, I find I pay more attention while on the road

I totally agree... I prefer my daily driver to be auto (driving stick in traffic can drive anyone insane), but the fun toy car can be manual.

Driving manual does cause you to be more alert of your surroundings and forces you to be more engaged... although auto is more convenient, its also boring and makes us lazy drivers lol

Flappy paddles all the way! It's not even a contest ... would never buy a car without the shift override again. Best of both worlds: you can downshift instead of using the brakes, but you don't wreck your high heels using the stupid clutch. :-)

LOL! I hear you. That is one thing about driving stick. Shoes are a dilemma. Any shoe with a heel is not comfortable.

stick only, I won't buy automatic. I like actually driving and the extra control in the winter can't be beat.

Our both cars only come in automatic, so did not have much choice
But one of them does come with tiptronic transmission :)

Both auto - out of convenience for the wife. I plan on a 3rd "summer" car in the next year or two. That will definitely be stick. Looking at 2002/2003 911 C2 or something of the like...

Nice, can't wait to be at that point in my life. 5+ years away from that most likely. I hope I can score a sweet used 370z convertible by then.

It's a plan - who knows if it will be 100% in 1 to 2 years. It's what I'm planning on though... Those cars can be had today for about $25K from the US (brother in law's a car dealer), so it's not like they are insane expensive.
