+1 on the responses about price.

My folks pay $18/hr in guelph and I wish I could find a good person at this rate.

I pay $22/hr currently and they are amazing. I prefer to pay for someone who's really good, knows how to clean really well than paying someone crap pay who will in return do crap work.

We pay $28 per hour - 5 hours bi-weekly.

I think cleaning people make their own prices don't they? I'm sure you can try and bargain but not for 10 bucks an hour.

Ours is about $80 but that's split between two ladies, and they usually take about 2-3 hours. We'll pay more if there are certain things we'd like done (i.e fridge cleaned, laundry switched over, garbages washed out...etc) or if they house is a disaster because we didn't have time to tidy up before hand.

For that kind of price, you should look for a teenager in your neighbourhood who wants to make some extra money, and spend the first few times cleaning with her to show her what you want done. When I was 15 or 16 I used to clean for a lady on our street. She showed me what she wanted done and we did it together the first couple of times.

$12 an hour for an experienced cleaning lady with references is probably a non-starter. But it's decent pocket money for a younger high school student, if you can find a good and conscientious one.
