Yeah, both cars were a mess. If everybody is doing the limit, I don't know how it could have gotten that bad and pushed up on the sholder as well.

First post! Love this forum!

I'd also be in favour of speed bumps along Yates Drive, which is a main route to Thompson. Cars fly by there with no regard to pedestrians or other vehicles. I do not have any children myself, but a few of my neighbours have small children. I fear there will come a day when one is hit by one of these idiots.

Speed bumps are for parking lots, not streets. There needs to be another alternative than just adding speed bumps.

All speed bumps do is get people to slow down for 3 feet then they peel it again as soon as they are over it. If speed bumps would stop speeders, they would be everywhere, and as you can see, they are not.

I am not a traffic specialist but I suggest you use the road watch program. Get a plate number and call it in. If it is a chronic offender, go to their house and confront them or their parents. I have done it in the past and it works.

Speed bumps properly spaced out along residential streets has proven to be very effective in slowing drivers down. Even if they accelerate between bumps, by the time they get to a dangerous speed (over 40km), they are forced to slow down again.
As the old saying goes, when you pick up one end of a stick, you also pick up the other end. There are a couple of drawbacks pertaining to speed bumps:

- They can impede or slow emergency vehicle access to areas (definitely not good);
- Can do damage to very low-bodied sports cars (Yates isn't exactly filled with Lamborginis and Ferraris);
- Reduced enforcement by police (it's already non-existent, so that wouldn't change).

The only real issue then is that of emergency vehicles, and as someone who did once have to call for an ambulance, I accept that as a reasonable argument. However, if something isn't done about the speeding on Yates, sadly emergency vehicles will be making a few trips to Yates.

I applaud you for that and will endeavor to follow your lead and do likewise. Who do you call it in to? Do you have a specific number?

There are at least 25 young kids on Yates (I have three myself) and we have to protect them the best way we can. That is why something needs to be done. The Town always says that there is NO problem with speeding on Yates! Well the people who live on say there IS.

As for roadwatch:
http://www.roadwatch.ca/

The program requires you to mail the form in, I think this is to prevent vindictive and nuisance claims, as you have to commit your own $0.51 to it, but it usually worth it.

As for the accident at Clark & Bennet the other day... that was a mess. For so many reasons that should be a 4 ways stop, including, but not limited to:
-School children crossing in any and all directions going to either school.
-Both roads see major traffic
-People are having accidents...
-Any reason to discourage speeding in a residential zone
-Both roads are direct connections to major roads.

I've been thinking since the day I moved in that the road was miss labeled, and should have been a four way, but I think this accident should be proof enough for anyone.

When it comes to speeding on Clark, my sister who is a civil engineer says Clark is a text book case of a road designed to encourage speeding. Since it is both wide, and straight. It should have more stop signs (not having them taken out...) and speed bumps or humps. The only emergency vehicles who really should have problems with speed bumps are police cars, as both fire trucks and ambulances have really high clearance, and great suspension.

The town of Milton also doesn't think there is enough of a problem with left turning from Thompson to Derry to warrant an advanced green, and yet I think every Go Train passenger who lives in HV might disagree, especially those who use the 'Milton' bus. Even the bus drivers are peeved at the city right now.

So no, the Town of Milton really doesn't know what is going on on its streets, other then construction.

Well I'm still in a bit of shock about the situation, but apparently the accident opened some eyes at city hall, or the timing was coincidental, but we have a four way stop now...
