Under 5's....GOD help me!!!!

Tim

Since this is a public forum and all you guys have had your kids in soccer, do you have any adivce for coaches? ie: things I should try, games, practice that works good...anything at all. How about Goalie rotations, whats a good plan to get all the kids to try it? What about defence and offence at this age, do you split them up, or just let the kids go at it?

Advice is appreciated!

We thought we made the right decision by choosing miltonmagic...... Well we recieved a message from the president I guess letting us know that the coach for our kids team has backed out and if need be they will have to refund us the money....
That is so very dis-organized for a "recognized" club. Our kids and I'm sure other kids were looking forward to playing soccer....
Did anyone recieved a call?

Trini- Whast age is this for?
I have been a part of Milton Soccer since I was 4 years old & have played Rep up until I was 18. Milton had a fabulous prog. then, I would be amazed if it still was not great today.
I did however notice that they still needed coaches...and this surprised me, as we alws had tooo many coaches when I was younger....I was thinking of coaching a team this year, and was curious as to waht age group may fold due to someone backing out...and did they not ask if the parents would coach? So this would not happen??

I have been coaching soccer in Milton for 10 years.. and I can understand why a team would have to be dissolved. Unfortunately there are less and less people that are willing to take the time to coach. Coaching is a big committment, and often a thankless job for the time that is spent on the field and off preping for games and practices.

In my experience there have been many parents that use soccer as a babysitter.. and just want to drop their children off and pick them back off.. they arent interested in taking on coaching a team.
If you ever have the opportunity, I would encourage you to take it... I have met many great kids through the soccer club and many still keep in touch with me now that they are older and not all in soccer anymore...

We got a call from our sons coach on Friday...Parents were too busy to have a practice before the long weekend so the first time we meet our team is on the first game day.

As for a lack of coaches, I would love to get involved but this summer would be a no go with a bunch of things going on. Next summer for sure, I'd help out and coach..the kids need us.. HAHA.
