We had some issues with our stairs and indicated on 30 day report. Mattamy came and ripped apart the landing pad and installed new wood, after the new stain on the pad the colour of stairs does not match with the landing pad.

This is now into 3rd month and Mattamy is maintaining that since the pad wood grain is different than the stairs the colour will not match. Our point is they should get it matched if its wood than they should get the same kind of wood.

Any advice / suggestion on how to resolve this matter will be greatly appreciated.

As of now discussions are in progress with Mattamy.

my advise is to bug the hell out of them until they change it! DO NOT TAKE NO FOR AN ANSWER!

Try to be cool about it though.... they will not do anything for you of youre a jerk.

We went through something similar when we got our house. The kitchen cupboards had paint splattered on them. We told Mattamy and they sent a kid to clean it off. He used something that wrecked the finish. We complained and they came and tried to buff it. That didn't work, so they came and changed some of the cupboard doors. Then they didn't match, so they came back and changed some more (twice). Still didn't match so they ended up coming back and replacing everything.
Don't give up until you get what you paid for. We didn't have to be A-holes about it, just kept bugging.

Yes, don't give up! You paid a lot of money for those stairs and you should get what you paid for!

When we moved in, we had foot prints, yes foot prints on the stairs. It looked like someone walked on the stairs with muddy shoes and then they varnished over it. They came and and redid the entire thing.

Oh wow, that is definetly not a good colour match & totally unacceptable.
We have Bruce Mocha on oak on our stairs & landing also.
Mattamy is coming in early Feb to replace the nosing on one step as it is damaged.
I would not accept the finish you have, it is is very light. They need to restain it until they get it right.
Keep us posted & good luck !

That is def. not a close match! They must be blind to blame it on diff. wood grain

Keep pushing them to fix it! Tell them they will be coming back until they get it right!

We did notice in some homes when Mattamy installed wood on landings or even upper hallways, the wood colour did not closely match the stairs :?

Looks like they stained a bit of your baseboards too..were those not taken off for staining..??

Definitely don't give up, you're paying good money to live in that house, it should be up to your standards.

You have to bug them incessantly until they get it done for you. Otherwise they will conveniently forget about your issue. It seems like such totally unnecessary bs to go through (which it is) but Mattamy sometimes acts like customer service is way too difficult for them to figure out.
