This politcal correctness and religious rights stuff is getting out of control...Quebec has the right idea in my opinion...

A weapon is a weapon. period.

I always found it ironic (maybe not the right word) when people who are asking/preaching/demanding acceptance for their beliefs are not understanding/accommodating when they are asked for the same thing.

Please accept the fact that for the general security of everyone in a gov't building you can not bring your weapon (ceremonial or not) into the building. Maybe if you show some understanding, they will do the same in turn.

When in the heat of anger and upset, it's human nature to throw common sense aside and use whatever is on hand to inflict pain or injury. This is why I would be against people carrying guns around all day.

WOW, I was about to say those things are probably decorative so let them wear it for cultural/religious reasons.

And they allow these things on airplanes!!

I'm sorry but no student in a public school should be allowed to carry the Kirpan regardless of religion! Teenagers are just that, teenagers! They should not be allowed to carry a weapon in school, it is not safe! What if one student wants to show it off to his friends etc, an accident can happen... Unfortunately not all teenagers are not mature enough to carry a Kirpan with them... and therefore they should not be allowed!

I don't understand, how come that their view of having a weapon (religious or not) is more important than my view of being in a place where i can feel safe knowing there is no weapon.
So if i say i have to carry a gun for regligious reason would it be ok?

I think Quebec is trying much harder than the rest of canada to strike a balance between religious rights/human rights/ and safety.

Anywhere you're prohibited from carrying a weapon as defined by their security policy (gov building, school, airplane, pub etc.) tough you should have to live with their policy or not take part. I feel the same for health and safety. In reality its not quite that simple, its a tough balance to maintain religious freedom when it goes against other liberties.

For me the hierarchy goes
Human Rights
Security/Safety Rights
Religious Rights

All this "religious tolerance" stuff is bullshit. I mean if I walked around with my face covered carrying a knife I'd be arrested!

Doesn't seem like any other governement in Canada thinks it is common sense other than Quebec or they just don't have the guts to stand up.

The joke of all this is it is a ceremonial weapon
As it never is supposed to be used, they could easily substitute a false one and still maintain religion (like how Christians eat bread and wine instead of body and blood these days)
