How can this local population support so much additional retail so fast?

http://finance.yahoo.com/news/Calloway- ... l?x=0&.v=1

And once it's all there, how many decades until capacity justifies additional building in Milton proper?

I'm just glad I own Riocan & Calloway, so I'll be getting a piece of the action that way over time, because Halton Hills is going to be enjoying the infrastructure from all the property taxes.

I thought Halton Hills didn't want to attract a lot of the city population. Now with these stores being opened so close by, people will inevitable find Georgetown...

Thanks Steve

Expected this, as the houses on the east side of this intersection have been boarded up for awhile. As Mayor Krantz has stated a few times, be careful what you wish for. As some of the same developers in Halton Hills are appealing the Regional Official Plan ROPA38 to the OMB because they feel 20,000 more people to Georgetown is not enough. They will use this area as another reason for the need for more residential growth in the Halton Hills area which in the long run takes some pressure off Milton's growth plans.

Their plan as part of the landowners group is to rezone about 2000 acres of land between 5th and 10th sideroads for between 60-80,000 people in the next few years and the majority of Halton Hills is in the Places to Grow future urban area for a potential 200,000+ new residents after 2031 (check out the map on page 60 called figure 2)

More on this and other issues later.

Colin, if there is a fire there, does milton fire respond or halton hills?? They are going to be tapping our infrastructure, I do not mind as long as they pay!

Another one? I swore the Tanger Outlet was enough....

I assume 2013 is when many stores (malls) open.

Hi Matt

Yes, Milton responds to the south Halton Hills area near Milton similar to the Halton Hills Acton fire station responds to rural Milton fires through a reciprocal agreement the Town has with not only Halton Hills but also Burlington and other neighbouring communities where fire stations are closer to the scene than Milton or their stations.

This has been a long standing agreement similar to the agreements municipalities have with school boards to use school facilities in return for town facility use such as arenas and swimming pools in return for gym time etc.

Check out the attached link for recent Milton announcements for industrial and employment expansions and new businesses where the jobs pay more than retail and hopefully a university announcement soon.

Interesting location choices. First 401 and JSP, and then 401 Trafalgar. Essentially 2 malls offering the same type of services, but several KM's apart from each other.

Does anyone speculate there will be more announcements coming? Maybe they plan fill the area in with outlet malls and other retail? One big outlet corridor?

I hate Heatland Centre. Driving one block to another to check stores I like is just not worth it for a lot of things. I need to be able to park at one spot and walk to all the stores.

Especially in winter and with kids!
