Our closing date is October 5th :D

We'd be so lucky to have grass in, but I doubt it!

I think the west side of the street will get it first since Whewell will all be moved in for months before our street is complete.

The builder got back to me yesterday and said 'they dont have a grass install date yet' for our street. doh!

Hi Richard/Liz & Cupcake Mommies,

We have the same plan (4) as the both of you and were wondering how many vents you have in your living room? We have two windows in the living room (because of the fireplace) and were expecting to have 2 vents (one on the floor under each window). However, we only have 1 vent under one of the windows. It seems odd to have only 1 vent in the entire living room. Please let me know.

Also, we are going to go with September 23 for the grass contest.

Thanks!

From all the pictures i have seen... 1 went with the split fireplace window. 2 vents if you didn't get fireplace and have the larger window. Dining area seems to have only one vent.

I have 2 vents under my window, one on either side and I don't have the fireplace.

This is what im planning to do on ours...

Plug a power checker in every plug receptacle.
open and close all doors and windows and see if they operate perfectly.
Check the kitchen cabinets for any nicks or scratches.
Check bathroom grout lines.
Run water on all sinks and flush all toilets. Check for obvious leaks.
Check if fireplace turns on ok.
Open all lights.
Hop up and down in all the rooms checking for squeaks
Bringing a square to check for square all corners i can like closets etc.

Thats all i can remember right now without checking my list...lol

It's an older post, but you might find it helpful: http://www.hawthornevillager.com/phpbb/ ... php?t=1505

With our current house, we also brought our entire upgrade list, and checkmarked each item as we went through the house.

We wore socks for our PDI. They were still working on our place, and it wasn't cleaned yet, so there was dust and debris lying around. We also walked slowly throughout our PDI, checking for weakness in the floor joists. They ended up ripping out our carpet in our master bedroom to repair all the squeaks they found.

Thanks for all the tips guys! If anyone else has any input that would be awesome. Beers at our house when we move for all your help!! :)

Make sure you check inside your cabinets - we had one covered in writing, and a bunch of chips in the shelves. Point out every blob of paint, dent, etc - keep a close eye on the door trim- we found a number of nicks there. And random place to look- the metal supports for the stair railing- ours were covered in stain but they took care of it while we were still there!

AV_AC, is your house locked yet? I can't remember if it was when I was there last night.

If not, you should drop by to see how things are, and make notes already. That way when you go back for the PDI, you're not looking at everything with a fresh pair of eyes... you can double check the errors you've seen, and make note of new ones.

Cathy, I know I can always count on you! :)

AV_AC: congrats on getting your doors locked! Hope everything goes well during your PDI. On a separate note, what paint brand does your fiance recommend? (yes, insert totally random question here).

I agree!! Definately need the A/C!

We close June 29th but our current house closes July 7th, so we are going to be doing some painting and installing the hard wood in during the first week.

Can't freakin' wait!!!

Moving in July 2nd. Cant wait as well! What a bonus this site is that we all kind of know each other already so that whole 'I hope our neighbours are cool' aspect of a move is covered...

That reminds me, I think we will need the A/C as well the sooner the better...

So lets get the group buy numbers. I'll update this post with the list as people confirm

Once I get a total number of people, I'll message the company and see what they can do for us
