We were going to do the floors. Again, we were adviced against it due to the home warranty and the house shifting. We'll do granite countertops (kitchen + washrooms) instead in the meantime.

I'm amazed how costly everything is!

Once we finish we'll invite you guys in and you can see how it turned up. I'll be doing that myself.

That's not a bad idea to wait until the 2nd year. Our contract stipulates that we're not allowed to finish our basement for 2 years anyway. We are going to replace the bathtub tiles and shower with marble though. It should be a nice touch.

The good thing is that we get to save $ for now Smile

OMG, I would love to see how that turns out! You're doing the kitchen floors too, right? We'll be re-doing the ensuite bathroom at a later point too, and I love how your current homes looks.

My head is spinning, just thinking of all the 'home' projects we have coming up in the next few years. Believe or not, the kitchen project is the one I'm least looking forward to doing!

Im going to install the hardwood myself, but we're liking the carpet so much we're procrastinating now...lol

We decided to hold off on the hardwood until the kids get a bit older, I find with my 1 year old starting to walk, the carpet breaks her falls well. We figure let the kids use it up and when it needs to be replaced we'll put hardwood...

congrats to all who closed.

One question i had was that mattamy includes duct cleaning. How did everyone find the dust via the vents?

Were the ducts fairly clean or you think we would need another cleanup ?

The lady doing our pdi told us that the ducts were cleaned but I'll let you know once we move in this week.

We don't seem to be having any problems.. some dust but it's bound to happen.

Art,

I don't know if you still live in the area, but in the past few visits to the site, your front door was open/unlocked.

Thanks for the concern. We've noticed that as well. We got lucky and went in one of those days. The kitchen looks amazing. My wife made the right choices :P

We also documented some of the things that were wrong and called the guy who is in charge of our home. He began fixing it the following day. He was curious as to how we got in though :P

Your home must be almost done. Did you manage to get inside to see how your place looks?

They just finished our drywall this week, and they'll probably do the taping next week. We still have 3 months until closing, so we'll see if they speed up or slow down.

When we went into one of the houses that are closing this week, we found it really stuffy. So if you're moving in soon and haven't arranged for your AC, you might want to get started on it soon!

We're loving it! Have you guys installed a dishwasher? Did you have to remove the plug receptacle from the side panel of your kitchen counter? We did and we have a rectangular hole now lol

Mattamy is going to replace it but it seems like a design flaw.

But we love the layout of our plan. I catch myself just walking around trying to see if I cant hear anyone in other parts of the house lol

Yay!! Welcome! The street is becoming less of a ghost town. We've been out of town, but will be back to reality tomorrow :)

No we didn't install the dishwasher yet... my cousin is an electrician and has to come over to do the plug for it... who did you call for the hole?? did you put it on your 30 day? you think they would have solved this problem after the first time they built our model 3 years ago... oh well...

We love the house too! How has the change from toronto been?

We told the guy Mattamy sends 2 weeks in asking if you have any problems... the pre-30 day warranty guy...lol He's going to install a low profile box that should fit, or they'll relocate it to the back instead of the side.

We dont miss Toronto at all. We're actually saying we should have come here years ago. We're enjoying life so much more here. The people that told us we'd miss the nightlife and activity here dont realize thats my work so Im still getting that and enjoying the family life during the week in milton. Our street rocks, we enjoy just sitting on our porch like you and just taking it all in. lol
