What are some of the concerns? Would love to hear them to judge whether it's something to get behind.

Also, to my understanding this was always commercial zoning, was it limited to retail? Is the thought retail only would be less disturbing?

It was limited to retail and one drive-thru window store. So, zoned for everything BUT gas bar and car wash. The application is to re-zone to add gas bar/car wash, etc.

The points in opposition to it were:
- noise from the car wash impacting lifestyle of homes around it
- traffic congestion from another drive thru like Timmy's
- why put a gas bar here when one will be at Derry and Tremaine.
- why put a gas bar here when one can be put at 401/Tremaine in future
- 500K homes ($7MM in homes directly touching that area. They spent good money for escarpment view & park. Don't mess up area with another gas bar/car wash
- the heritage homes had restrictions on design, but putting a huge gas station notice doesn't really seem fair, and doesn't seem to uphold the escarpment restrictions...

I came to the meeting in favour of the gas bar. I’m still in favour of the gas bar AS LONG AS it can fit in with the rest of the neighbourhood. The SHADY thing was that the developers presented pictures of everything BUT the gas bar and car wash areas…it would have been more beneficial to see that – and that kinda got me thinking.

The argument was that Mr. Durante LIVES in MILTON (one of those huge homes on the new Main Street near the Heathwood development), so he has a vested interest in the gas station looking good…but then – wait a sec – the gas station isn’t facing his home…in fact, it’s on the opposite side of where his house is located…so that suggests a different story.

Hope this helps

+1 for the concerns

Folks, i sent an e-mail to planner with my comments around gas bar/car wash. Obviously i am not in favour of having a gas bar in this area so whoever is on the same page with me, please do record your comments by sending an e-mail to the town planner @ christian.lupis@milton.ca<christian.lupis@milton.ca>.

I got the confirmation from planner that my comments have become public and would sure be considered when decision will be made about building a gas bar/car wash there. I request that please speak up by sending an e-mail to the planner if you have not already.

Hey Muniralam, if you haven't done so lately, you really need to see the progress of your house!

Thanks for the info Ruben.

I went out to check it out and they are almost done with the structure. I was surprised to see the progress. I hope they are meeting the quality standards which were promised at the time of sale.

Two questions:

1. For the hardwood upgrade, does that include the main staircase as all hardwood or only the landing? I was just re-reading some stuff and realized that it may be just the landing... checking the upgrade book, I don't see any upgrade for hardwood on the stairs.

2. For those of us who had grading issues, will we get a deck at the back of the house? I'm thinking that if we had to put a deck thing in the garage, they'd need to do that the back as well....

Thoughts?

To the owners of the first 5 lots:

Have you been contacted to book your pre-drywall appointment yet?

PS: Ruben, was that you at the site yesterday? Sorry I didn't get to say hi - we were in a bit of a hurry
