Hey Jdub - yeah I remember the style was presented with the colour. It wasn't an obvious thing where you pick the colour then the style but rather certain colous came in certain styles. If you wanted to change from the basic to different styles it would cost extra. If you look at your P&S agreement it should say what cabinets you decided on, as well I think it lists the style. Hope this helps!

That does, thanks! When I was checking my documents, under door style, it kept saying 'as noted', and I couldn't recall even choosing a style, only the colour... my final paperwork from Paris says 'Savoy' but, i don't think I actually picked the cabinet... I mean, it's fine, i just didn't see any other styles but the one that was shown to me in chocolate pear (i.e. the savoy one).

Was there more than one standard cabinet to choose from??

So, yes, Danielle did mess up. We're going to go in and see which ones she picked for us  as well as the other options we had...

I agree with Wendy, it's not Intracorp's concern anymore. It's now up to our councillors and mayor to come through and deliver a decision good for us and them (ie re-election).

But I have to say that a gas station at the corner is more visually appealling to me than a big old no frills...I'm not a fan of anything Weston owned, Canadian or not....

Hoping to see what the town decides...

Are you suggesting that a "No Frills" is an option?

I'd be very surprised.

No. I'm just comparing to the corner of Scott and Derry

Fair enough but I think you're setting the bar too low. There are many things that would make a gas station an eye sore.

I have been reading the recent posts on the rezoning issue. I think its really too bad that this is happening. As convenient as it may be to have a gas station nearby, the impact to the area homes should be more of a concern. I don't know how many people want to back onto a gas station or to be smelling the fumes when the trucks come to bring the petro. To me, this commercial area should be developed into a small "neighbourhood feel" plaza similar to the one at Derry & Trudeau and Derry & Holly. There the small plaza has a restaurant, cafe, Rabba's, dry cleaners, hair stylist etc, which is so much more welcome and useful.

I am curious to see what the outcome is although I would not be surprised this goes through. I used to live on the east end of town by James Snow Parkway and Main St. Similar to this issue, the neighbourhood had an area designated as commercial/employment block, so everyone thought a nice small plaza would be built. Once all the houses were built, the owner of the land applied for a zoning amendment to permit five 4-story condos to be built. Image the outrage from all the home owners backing onto this land. No one wanted to have a 4 storey condo in their backyard. They got petitions signed and fought it as best as they could. It did not matter, council approved the rezoning and all the condos went up! I can only imagine how dark their backyards must be, not to mention having everyone in the condos balconies looking directly into their yards. Well I guess we'll stay tuned on this one...

That is why i suggest that everyone should at least raise it with city to record their concern. More people with reasoning more the impact. Gas bar rezoning is not such a big issue to be changed if everyone living in the area is totally against it. Even for town it would be better in terms of taxes if more small businesses are allowed as compared to allowing a gas bar. Lets hit it with full force and hope to get it reversed.

I would very much love the little plaza approach with pharmacy, dry cleaner, hair cutter, convenience store, dentist etc type of businesses as compared to an ugly gas bar emitting gas fumes right in our backyards. I am lot 5 which is not even close but i still am not able to digest this rezoning for gas bar/car wash.

5. Gas stations can be provided on other, more suitable locations, such as the major intersection at Derry/Tremaine, or the future connection of Tremaine with 401.

PRIME case of NIMBY'ism here. So let all the people who live near the corner of Derry/Tremaine have the gas station so that I'm a happy camper. Oh in case you didn't notice, that corner is already slated for a gas station AND is a lot closer to the escarpment (so how is that a more suitable location than next to your home)?

6. Also I wonder: What about environmental impact in the event of a major gas spill, i.e. impact on sub-watershed/ground water, with a creek further east on the new Main Sreet, and proximity to protected NEC land? Is this/could this be a problem?

This is a WEAK argument. There are tonnes of gas stations located next to residential neigbourhoods all over the town, province, country, etc. Hasn't been a problem yet has it? Where should we locate gas stations then? As long as it's not next to your home you wouldn't care would you?

Sorry, just can't stand the NIMBY'ism of new people moving into Milton.

...any chance we can stop rehashing the gas bar thing and wait for the Town to decide? You've raised your concerns to the town, so let's wait for the technical review meeting et al....pls and thanks.

PS - "you" refers to no one in particular but anyone on this forum, so don't take it personal.

On another note, went back to Paris Kitchens yesterday. All is back in order, thanks to Erlinda. Anyone who had her the first time - LUCKY YOU! She's awesome.
