Not sure how long some of you have waited in the E.R at Miltons..... But from reading the threads about wait times it seemed that 5hrs was long.

Last Night, my mom was feeling sharp chest and back pains..... so my sis and I took her to Trillium Hospital (currently live in Mississauga). When we went to Trillium last summer, it was a REALLY short wait. Now last night we got into the E.R.. at 11:30pm...... We saw alot of ppl in the E.R. waiting, all of them looked like they were ready to shoot the next person who talked to them, because they all were waiting so long according to some stranger who was pretty calm.

So after repeating to the nurses that my moms chest was hurting alot (could be a sign of an attack) they finally took a test for the heart. Luckily it was fine..... Now she had to go back and wait in the E.R. longer, for a doctor to check her out.

Its 8:17 am..... SHE JUST FINISHED! 8-9 hour wait. They said it was just a really severe Muscle pain. But it was good that she came to the Hospital.

Maybe Im wrong and some of you waited longer at Milton's..... But this is the longest I have ever seen in Mississauga around midnight.

Glad to hear you're mum is fine. Its un-nerving being there for so long but at the end of the day be glad she's ok.

Hospital wait times are brutal no matter where or when you go.

My son had almost the same thing, terrible muscle pain in his back, while working near Simco, so he went to emergency room there, and stay for 10 hours. Bythe way, how big is the town of Simco??

Beginning of July I took a child to Credit Valley Hospital to get a cast put on a broken arm. I told her to bring her DS game and I brought several books to read as I figured there would be a several hour wait. Surprisingly we went to Emergency and was triaged, registered, then sent to fracture clinic department where they put on a temporary cast. Total time at hospital - under two hours!!!

I've waited much longer on past occasions for fractures so pretty happy I must say.

Time for two-tier!

Well, at least they named the room right.

My daughter was really sick last week and we debated whether to take her to Milton or the new McMaster Sick Kids Emerg (McMaster only has an emergency for children, no adults at all). We went to Mac at 9am, and waited only 20mins. It might be worth the drive for those of you who have children that are feeling ill.

Hope all is well with your little one, and they must have needed to be seen.

Overall though, if you're considering driving to Mac for kids emergency room, then how sick is your kid? An emergency is an emergency no matter where you end up. If it's a true emergency it will be treated as such at any hospital. The emergency rooms have long wait-times because people tend to use them as walk-in-clinics.

I know it sounds cold-hearted, but I can't stand hearing the medical system run down for bad wait times. Hospitals try their best with the resources they have.

I've found McMaster to be the best local option with the little ones, don't get me wrong I love Milton hospital & all (both our girls were born there and I have nothing but goods things to say about the maternity staff) but they are horrible when it comes to pediatrics.

Seriously, guys - it's just dumb luck. I've been to Milton's ER dozens of times at all hours of the day and night over the past 17 years, and it varies wildly with no real pattern apparent.

My husband used to have a chronic eye problem that would cause him sudden excruciating pain at random times in the day and night and would require an ER visit to get freezing drops and a patch. Sometimes we'd wait an hour. Sometimes three. Sometimes five. It just depended on how many people decided to get sick or injured at that particular hour on that particular day.

The longest I think I had to wait was when we went in with our infant son at about midnight, and as this was before The Growth we had to wait 6 hours because the doctor had to be called in from home (seriously - you guys are lucky). The shortest was when I sprained my ankle in the middle of the afternoon about 4 years ago. I was in, assessed, X-rayed, handed a scrip for painkillers and sent on my way in under an hour.

Somewhere there must be comparative stats for ER wait times in Ontario. Anyone?

i was at the hospital er one time in my life, cut finger, about a cm of skin flapping off and i hit bone. under 2 hours i was home. happened 5:30 or 6 about on a thursday at work. that was 2007

I go to the Georgetown hospital.
Sure it's about 20-30 mins away, but I'd rather take the drive and be in and seen within another 30 mins than drive 5 mins and wait for hours on end.

I recall when Mississauga people used to say that about the Milton Hospital

McMaster saved my son's life, he was born 10 days after they went all-kids.

While he was in the NICU there, I had to go to Milton as my c-section incision got infected and partially opened up on a Friday night. We waited 4 hours, and were next on the list just to be placed in a room, nevermind seen by a doctor. We went home, and I kept an eye on it until the urgent care clinic opened up. No sleep for me that night.

I went to the urgent care the next day and they took care of it within half an hour.

My DH on the other hand has had basically immediate service both times he's been to Milton.
