Running Free Ontario Cup Milton Trail Run This Weekend

Is anyone else participating in this on Saturday?

Quote:
(August 3rd) – Running Free Ontario Cup Milton Trail Run will take place this Saturday, August 6th at Kelso Conservation Area near Milton, ON.

Kelso is no stranger to hosting excellent trail events, as mountain biking events have been taking place here for over 20 years – plus the extensive trail network offers something for everyone. The 6km race course will feature a scenic ski hill service road ascent. Runners can also expect sweet singletrack and just enough doubletrack to give ample space to pass. The 6km race will be one lap, and the 12km race will be two laps of the 6km course. Runners can also expect a feed zone midway through the lap, and lots of refreshments at the finish line.

2011 Running Free Ontario Cup Milton Trail Run Course Map

“The Niagara Escarpment offers a very unique running experience, as there is the right mix of limestone outcroppings, and smooth fast sections. Plus, Kelso boasts some of the best vistas of any running destination in Ontario” says Sean Ruppel, Course Designer.

As with every Chico Racing trail running event, for every participant a tree will be planted on their behalf. Chico Racing has teamed up with Preparing the Trail with the goal to improve your fitness, while putting something positive back into the earth and creating forests for future generations.

Nearby Milton provides several accommodation options - all which are very close to the race venue. Kelso is also only a 20 minute drive West of the GTA. Pre-registration closes Wednesday August 3rd, at midnight. Event Day Registration is available Saturday from 8:00AM to 9:30AM.

I biked the course. Its great. Just as it says in the description "some really fast and flat spots, some really challenging climbs with a great view".

I won't be making it out to the race but I hope everyone who does has fun doing it.

I met a few bikers along the way and a few told me about a ride every Tuesday night. Its $13 and is a timed event. Or $70 for the year.

That looks like fun. I wish i knew about this sooner too. I cant make it this Saturday unfortunately.

I would like to run that tract though. I think I will try it out, if I dont get lost, next week. I dont think I have ever run a set route before

I might show up for a few mins to cheer on the runner with my little guy... and check out the festivities.

Have fun...

Hey Don,

There wasn't alot of advertising for this as I just found out about it on Monday. I'll let you know how it goes and maybe we can run it there in the next coming weeks as we're still trying to find a way to meet up. I did try the loop yesterday and the run up the maintenance road along the skihill wasn't too fun but the rest of the course is pretty manageable with a nice windy descent down the Fire Trail to end it.
