When you do something the same 20-30 times a day you start using your other senses to complete the task. With that in mind....

A driving instruction can usually size you up within your first or second turn by just feeling how the car turns and breaks. So my advice is drive with confidence...

Also my wife did not like highways, so she booked her G2 exit in Collingwood. No hwys there... :)

You should be tested in the environment you will be driving in. If you booked in Orangeville to beat the system you are a knob! It will look great when you show your nice new drivers license to the police when you get in your accident because you cant drive where you live!
Why not man up and get more comfortable on the highways then go for your license?

Matt

FYI! I do drive on the highway!
I guess i'm just really nervous about the test!

I drive one way 67KM everyday - my Husband says it's good practice.

If you dont have anything good to say - just dont say anything!

Incase you were not aware, over the last year there has been numerous news articles about people booking driving tests at easier testing locations. Bancroft was one that come to mind. Some driving schools did this on purpose to get a higher pass rate.

You are just perpetuating the cycle. Don't post online how you are using a loophole in the system since you want an easier testing location. And you wonder why people do not agree with you??

Regards and salutations

Matt

This is scary.

Just the other day I was merging onto the 401 E behind a car with a taped piece of paper on the back window that said "New driver, speed of turtle, please forgive me" and he was breaking for no reason on the on-ramp.

You should be comfortable driving on the highway by the time you go for your G test. Making a mistake at 100km/h could seriously hurt you or someone else. If you fail, it's because you can't drive and you shouldn't pass until you're ready.

They shouldn't have testing centres where driving on highways isn't a part of the test.

You shouldn't be able to get your license unless you are tested on the highway - period.

If I recall correctly ... I believe I was 'rude' to you 3 years ago when you posted about your G2. I can't find the post though.

I did my G in Orangeville only because I took too long to take the G, and they were going to take my whole license away within 2 months...Orangeville had lots of spots available some 6 years ago...

You DO have to go on the highway, but it's not 400-series...it's Hwy 10. All of the same rules apply as it would on 401, except speed (sort of), so don't be an idiot.

Then you'll do all the other stuff...reverse, parallel, emergency stop, etc.

Good luck with the "G" test. I'm not a big highway driver either- but when I do, I prefer the 401 to the QEW- the constant construction just annoys me, and it seems so claustrophobic with the service roads, and buildings so close.

I failed my G test twice. The second time, I had to reschedule it for a date after my license expired- they gave me a one-time extension on my license until that date.
