I have had enough of staring at all the bikes... and paying a small fortune for me (alone) to drive the van around... and want one of my own now :D :D :D

Does anyone have one of the training booklets I can borrow to study for the written test? Our maybe I can buy it off you? If not, where can I buy one?

And now the next glorious question.... WHO RIDES? 8)

you can pretty much get these manuals anywhere now; canadian tire, walmart, etc. My brother-in-law currently has mine, but as soon as he gives it back it's free to whoever wants/needs it.

We ride, and I'm sure we have one floating around the house somewhere. If I can find it over the weekend I'll PM you.

Take the motorcycle course at the community college too.
The lessons I learned there saved my hide more than once (@160k/h).
The course if fun too, if you survive the Friday night lecture.
You leave Sunday aft with your licence in hand, learn on their clutch too.

At least that's how it worked 25 yrs ago.

For the riders, does anyone know why the gearing order goes 1, N, 2...and on? I've always been curious if there was a good reason why N is nestled between gear 1 and 2.

Because if it was at the top or bottom you'd catch it if you weren't sure what gear you were in.

I'd always try and catch 7th on the highway thinking I was in 5th, but was in fact in 6th (highest gear).

If you're in N waiting for the red light to turn green (which you should be, never keep it in gear at a red), it's easier to just bang it down in to first and know that it's engaged if you've gone down as far as it goes. Better than pecking around with that light touch trying to find N.

There might be a mechanical reason for it, but it makes sense the way it's designed.

Yeah, that does make sense, thanks.

Using language from your vernacular, I feel like such a pussy whenever I see women on motorcycles, and I don't have my license. I would be comfortable buying any beater motorcycle, but I just don't have the space for one, otherwise I'd go for the license.

If anyone wants it, PM. $20.00. This book might save your life.
