Does anyone on the transit committee know if/when the Presto system will be added? Parking is getting pretty tight at the GO Station (even with the addition, the amount of people that park at the Superstore must be close to 300). The way things are now, I must pay full pop ($5.50/daily) instead of the transfer fee ($1.10/daily).

Thanks :)

Milton is not one of the original Presto Partners:

https://www.prestocard.ca/en/StaticContent/About/

I don't have any concrete information about Milton, but given that Presto is still in the "Phased Rollout" stages with existing partners, it will be some time before any new partners are going to be brought online.

there is a few benefits you loose by dropping the monthly and going with the Presto...

- subsidizer local transit.
- Free one passenger on weekends
- tax back.... yes technically you get that with Presto, but only if you take more then 30 times a month I believe.
- you don't have to remember to TAP OFF the bus, and train

I was an early adopter with Presto, but I am thinking of going back to monthly passes... I like the convenience of the auto load system, but does that really out weight all the benefits above?

** Edit

If you look on the presto page http://www.oakvilletransit.com/fares.htm Milton transit is sort of listed to have Presto, depending on how you look at it... Maybe it will be rolled in?

Aren't they phasing out monthly passes?

I don't think they will be phasing out monthly transit passes. I believe Presto is meant as "one stop shop" for those commuters using multiple transit systems. Don't quote me on this, this is just the impression I have.

As for Milton transit implementing it, my guess is it probably won't happen without significant funding help from GO transit. As Milton transit only has fleet of something like 10 buses, implementing a technical system such as PRESTO would be extremely expensive and would take an immensely long time to pay for itself.

My suggestion - forget the Presto if all you use is GO and MT - buy a monthly or a ten ride pass instead - you will save on MT (btw you can buy a monthly transfer PASS for $22 at the sports centre so you don't have to find the change) and get a tax break all at the same time without a minimum ride number per month.

You actually don't have to tap off of the train now, just the bus. Your card has a "default" ride setup.

It's unfortunate that Milton Transit can't do something to try and accommodate Presto users. I have no problem paying the fare by cash, but let me pay the transfer fee and not the full pop.

Presto, Pronto, Bistro.
Who cares?
Just make it works for regular people.

Where do you see the reference Bonobo? It's the Oakville Transit page and it doesn't seem to mention Milton Transit at all.

It's not the Milton Transit. GO subsidizes transfer fares for GO riders and they wont pay for Presto users who pay by cash. We'd love to accomodate.

I did say it was a stretch... if you look on the right hand side of the page, there is a link to the Milton Transit page, UNDER the Presto link... lol

My friend who works on the presto project has told me Milton will no longer have paper monthly tickets and only presto come February 2012. Unless something delays it, be prepared to get tappin ;)

I guess one could buy a two ride and use that for local Milton transit?

I just buy the monthly Go Transit and Milton Transit passes. Aside from the Presto discussion, parking at the GO station is going to become a serious concern in the future, even with the expansion currently under way. What if that Superstore parking lot was not there?

So Go Transit monthly passes will no longer be an option and strictly Presto if you want to take the train?

Why is one option being eliminated for the other? Does it cost more to maintain both options?
