Where is the best place to buy fresh store bought bagels? (I don't mean the prepackaged Dempster style bagels)

My assessment so far;
Superstore (Loblaws) is #1 (baked three times, fair price, good assortment and a little bit of that chewiness that you find in a great Montreal bagel).
Food Port (cheap, limited selection, average bagel, a little on the dry side)
Metro (expensive, some chewiness, unusual topping on their everything bagel)
LaRose (cheap, big but dry, no chewiness)

Discuss.

Metro has Montreal bagels. They don't have it all the time, sometimes I've been there and they are out.

They are made in MTL by one of the more known shops. Pretty good and about as true a MTL bagel as you can get in TO!

Once upon a time it was The Great Canadian Bagel in the Food Basics plaza where spices is/was!

Now I would probably have to say loblaws superstore!

In the future it will probably be Longos I heard they have exceptional bagels!

In the heart of Toronto's Orthodox Jewish community, Bagel World on Wilson Ave just west of Bathurst has the best bagels.

Their poppy seed bagels and the larger "twister" have a super crisp crust with a hint of salt and a doughy interior. Most of the time these bagels are still warm from the oven when you pick them up.

It's not close, but if you are ever going by the 401 / Avenue Road exit then it's worth the visit.

The ones at Longo's in Mississauga are pretty wonderful. Hopefully they'll have the same ones at the Milton location.

munchito

That mould is edible, like the mould in blue cheese or botrytis grapes.

Looking forward to the Longo's opening and must try Bagel World and JC Bagels.

Panara Bread in Mississauga (at Square One) has great bagels. They have different flavours and are very tasty. Very similar to prices at Tim Hortons, but the bagels are much better!

Highland Farms on Hurontario carries Gryfe's bagels which are my favs. They also have other kinds there as well. ( We also have the best neighbours that have their relatives bring some in from Montreal for us when they visit)
