We got a call to pick up our design center package over the weekend. It is a large spiral book describing all of the possible upgrades that Mattamy can offer pre-closing and the prices.

Anyone else get theirs?

We haven't decided on the upgrades yet. We thought we had it nailed down but we scrapped it all and we're back to square one. We had a list of Mattamy vs. after upgrades but now that we have the price list we are reconsidering.

The upgrades will be mainly in the kitchen (cabinets, countertop, island, etc...). We also want hardwood stairs and jets in the ensuite.

Has anyone noticed that there is no window in the bathroom on the second floor in Plan 6. I am kind of disappointed in that. Maybe I missed something. We are also going through the upgrades available and determining what we should do. still up in the air.

Hi everyone!

We bought our first home last summer for HVOP ph4! Lot 167 - 04 on Diefenbaker Street.

This past Friday, we had our design center appointment and we got a lot done. It was very stressful as there is a lot to chose from and it can get pricey. But our design consultant worked well with us and we were actually under budget which was great! It takes up a lot of your time. A word of advice, look up some design inspirations and take them with you. You will have to visit the design center many times before making a firm decision.

Anyway questions we'd be glad to help :D

Our closing is November 2012 (God willing)

We are very excited to see it all come together!

Cheers,
Sergio & Sabrina

Hi guys,

Does anyone know if installing a humidifier after closing would void our furnace warranty?? The price that Mattamy is charging is ridiculous! Not sure if i should call Tarion to make sure but thought I would start here.

We got our pricing book the other day, its exciting & confusing all at the same time.

Thanks all!

I purchased hillsview end as well. 147-1. Did any of you change the kitchen option with the center island?

Installing a humidifier or air conditioner after you buy the home does not effect the furnace warranty provided the installation of the equipment does not damage the furnace and provided the equipment is installed by a qualified / licenced company / installer.

Often builders will imply that you do loose the furnace warranty but that is not true if you follow the above guidelines.

BTW, if you plan to buy an AC then most of the time the AC company will give you a great deal on a humidifier.

I was told by my big scary scam artist builder that getting an A/C after was way cheaper and to make sure it was a reputable company that would pick up the warranty on the furnace, and that if another company frigged with the electrical of the original installer it "could" void the original warranty. what he actually said was "just don't use some guy in a beat-up old truck offering to do it for 300 bucks.

Many builders promote or perpetuate the myth that installing and AC or humidifier by anyone but them will void the warranty of the furnace.

Not long ago a client was told this by his builder. He sent the note ( below ) to Tarion and Tarion sent back their response at the bottom.

Note to Tarion - exact word for word.

Quote:
I want to put in a central air conditioning system installed by someone other than the people who installed the furnace in my new home. The builder has indicated that if I have anyone other than them install the air conditioner, then the builders warranty on the furnace becomes void. Is this true?

Tarions response from a Technical Claims Representative -

Quote:
The only time that the furnace warranty would be voided is if the installation of the air conditioner caused the furnace to fail. Make sure that you hire a credible Heating & Air Conditioning contractor and inquire about their warranty on your furnace should the air conditioner installation cause it to fail.
