No worries, and I guess we both agree more clarity would be ideal in this thread.

We're getting 5 acres of land for free for the velodrome / road access as well as 50% of the cost of road construction. That's what C1 and C4 are. They'll keep our share fixed at $3.8 million of development charges money even if the Laurier donation is delayed.

I'm not sure I understand what you are saying about C1 and C4. Could you please provide more information. How is the Town getting 5 acres for free, since I thought the Town donated this land to the educational village. Is the Town getting this land back and the value is $2.5M. If so, is the Town going to cover the 2.5M for Laurier, as payment for the land. This would make the Town share 6.3M The original costing for the Velodrome showed 2.5M coming from Laurier, which was part of the private donations. How is C1 and C4 connected to the free land?

Hello Zeeshan:
It's March 24th, 2012, and since I didn't get a response to my March 22, 2012 note, I thought I would continue on with my statement, now that an answer has been provided on the Milton Website Report 005-002-12, which provides more details about the Velodrome project.

One way to look at the revenue source for the Velodrome is to divide the revenue source into 2 streams: a) revenue from the Town and
b) revenue not from the town. The 2.5M dollars which was to be revenue not from the Town (private donation by Laurier) has been replaced by $1.49M, and this revenue source is town revenue and the costs will be upfronted by the Town. The Town might want to label this money from "recovery from future development" and "University Constribution-alternative cost savings...", but the bottom line is that the money is being funded by the town. Also, $1M has been added to fund-raising up from 3.0M to 4.2M.

Pan Am Request for baseball and softball venue in Milton
In the town report to Council for Monday's meeting on the Velodrome is a request from Pan Am 2015 to have Milton consider hosting the baseball and softball venues. The capital cost is projected to be $13M, and the town would be responsbile for 100% of the site work (as with the Velodrome) and 44% of the capital cost (as with the Veloldrome except there is a supposed cap of 17.9Mon the Vel.) which turns out to be $5.72M for the baseball and softball venues. The Pan Am people would like to cluster events and with the Velodrome being located here, there would be another event in Milton. The Pan Am people are trying to cluster events. http://www.milton.ca/MeetingDocuments/C ... 6_2012.pdf

"While it is anticipated that staff will continue to complete the due diligence on the request, at this time it is unlikely that staff will be recommending to Council that the Town of Milton consider submitting an Expression of interest for this project request."

A baseball and softball venue is stupid. No one will ever use that again!! Besides, it's 13M and the town doesn't have all kind of fake pledges lined up for it.

We'll just do the velodrome. It'll be great! Cycling with special-purpose expensive bikes for people who don't even live here. And besides, once you factor in all the fake pledges and the appropriated development charges (that we would have had for other projects anyhow) it's practically freeeeeeeeeeeeeee.
