Listen up brothers and sisters,
come hear my desperate tale.
I speak of our friends of nature,
trapped in the dirt like a jail.

Vegetables live in oppression,
served on our tables each night.
This killing of veggies is madness,
I say we take up the fight.

Salads are only for murderers,
coleslaw's a fascist regime.
Don't think that they don't have feelings,
just cause a radish can't scream.

Chorus:
I've heard the screams of the vegetables (scream, scream, scream)
Watching their skins being peeled (having their insides revealed)
Grated and steamed with no mercy (burning off calories)
How do you think that feels (bet it hurts really bad)
Carrot juice constitutes murder (and that's a real crime)
Greenhouses prisons for slaves (let my vegetables go)
It's time to stop all this gardening (it's dirty as hell)
Let's call a spade a spade (is a spade is a spade is a spade)

I saw a man eating celery,
so I beat him black and blue.
If he ever touches a sprout again,
I'll bite him clean in two.

I'm a political prisoner,
trapped in a windowless cage.
Cause I stopped the slaughter of turnips
by killing five men in a rage

I told the judge when he sentenced me,
This is my finest hour,
I'd kill those farmers again
just to save one more cauliflower

Chorus

How low as people do we dare to stoop,
Making young broccolis bleed in the soup?
Untie your beans, uncage your tomatoes
Let potted plants free, don't mash that potato!

I've heard the screams of the vegetables (scream, scream, scream)
Watching their skins being peeled (fates in the stirfry are sealed)
Grated and steamed with no mercy (you fat gormet slob)
How do you think that feels? (leave them out in the field)
Carrot juice constitutes murder (V8's genocide)
Greenhouses prisons for slaves (yes, your composts are graves)
It's time to stop all this gardening (take up macrame)
Let's call a spade a spade (is a spade, is a spade, is a spade, is a spade.....

I’m not sure if it is makes any sense here in Canada. If I’m not mistaken, in India they don’t kill cows. They do believe some human soul is living in it.
Here in Canada it is only for steaks and milk. But we have animals shelters supported by donations and very humanitarian animals control service.
Yes, it is very cruel how they keep chickens in those factories. But as you know here is nation wide program about every fifth child who is hungry. Chickens are most affordable food including their eggs. So, if we will take care about chicken and eggs first we will get every third child hungry here.

I don't think this was about people.. Just chickens stuffed in little cages where they would be better off in something less confining.

I like animals. They are a lot nicer than a lot of people. And they taste good (the animals, not the people).

In a science fair a guy did a project on how plants feel. He hooked the plant up to amplfiers & speakers and started to cut leaves off.

Just imagine the noise the plant made...I kid you not.

I suppose it's a small concession, since the ultimate fate of the chicken is to make my eggs until it can't anymore, and then it's Swiss Chalet, but personally I am willing to pay the extra money to buy free range eggs (when they have them in, A&P is always running out). If someone else can afford to and is willing, then they can do that too. But if people don't have the money and are just trying to make ends meet, I have no qualms with them getting the cheapest eggs they can get.

Do what you can to help and that's all you can do.

While I am not yet compelled to sign a petition I will take a half hour to look into this further. I believe that there is a valid point in your initial posting and I just need to determine if I support it or not.

best of luck

It makes more sense now. Lots of people including myself will agree with this opinion.
Eggs from free run chickens tests much better. May be because of their live is completely different.

Now how about Korea. Lets ignore KIA, Huiduy (I will never spell this stupid name correctly) and LG with Samsung because they are eating dogs and they have to beat them before cooking?
Or you just playing chickens here while hugging of the tree all of the day?

Normally I stay out of these things but I am an animal lover and whether you are animal lover or just an intelligent human being I would think one would agree that people will always eat meat but there is no reason why animals should be mistreated to do so ESPECIALLY when there is an alternative way to treat them and still have the meat at the grocery store. I can't beleive that if there is a way for an animal not to suffer in order to provide us food people don't support it or think that may be the "better route". This is an overall problem with the way companies run these days not just for meat but everything, most companies think of how fast they can get money in at any sacrifice.

As for the worms post...your intelligence level is shining through, dissapointing to say the least.

I thought this website was intended for people to ask questions and give advice on their homes that they have purchased or living in. I joined the site almost 2 years ago, and as of late I have noticed it has turned into a giant bitch session about political opinions and how poorly run this town we live in is. It seems that there are less and less joys in life everyday, this site used to fun. But now.... not so much.

K

PS I'll take the time to find Free Range Eggs.

I dunno, 3 posts from TreeHugger and all about this? Seems like a spammer or something to me. I mean, if you really are in Milton (Halton) and/or are buying a Mattamy home, why would you "introduce" yourself to a chat board in this fashion?

I'm on a few chat boards and most people wait a while upon joining a board to post anything as political as TreeHugger's post.

I too am an animal lover. I find it appalling that some people cannot feel any empathy for living creatures. Animals should be treated with some respect. I am not against animals being raised for food but not living a life of torture and suffering as some do. There are chickens, veal calves, geese (fois gras) and many more who are engineered to produce more, bigger, better and in the process, suffer terribly. Too make jokes about the treatment of animals is absolutely the lowest form of humour. I do wonder "treehugger" why you gave yourself this name as it leaves you open for criticism. People use that term derrisively to indicate that you are over the top in your views. You are a concerned citizen and I applaud you for bringing this to people's attention.
