Hi, I need to lose 20 - 30 lbs after putting back on some weight the last couple of years. Is anyone interested in posting on a weekly Monday morning weight loss thread here to help us stay motivated? No need to put our weight just the pounds lost weekly (and your goals) unless you wish to put the starting weight too. If anyone is interested I thought I would start the thread weekly beginning Monday, August 13th in the morning. Post anytime after that.

Edited to add:
Rules for the weight loss thread - I'm thinking we should only post once weekly on the actual thread, whether it be your weight loss, food journal however your going to do it. Then I'll start a companion thread we can chatter in regarding the week otherwise our weight loss thread will be too hard too cluttered.

This upcoming Monday being the first week will be us posting our goals such as our starting weight (for those wishing to disclose) or just the goal of amount of pounds we wish to lose.

I think that could be a good way to keep people motivated. I will pop in, however I do not own a scale and don't for a reason. It becomes obsessional for me and I get defeated with the 'normal' fluctuations one's body goes through. I am best by going by how my clothes fit and how I feel. I am definitely up for some motivation and sharing of tips and maybe even some recipes??

I hear you on the scales, many people are better off without them but I need them for accountability fstydiva. :) My best way to lose weight is to be aware of every bite of food I put in my mouth and cutting down. Hard for me to exercise with all my health issues but I've always loved walking. Unfortunately injured my foot in the spring and barely able to walk on it now but just started physio and hoping it resolves. soon. It's horrible feeling like an invalid and hobbling around on a cane. I know the weight loss can only help the joints so I'm determined to lose even if it's only a pound a week, still adds up. :)

I would be interested as well. I definitely need external encouragement as I have proven to be incapable of keeping myself motivated. :D

I know what you mean especially about the exercise bit. You've probably seen my posting with respect to upcoming knee replacement and currently only being able to walk not far distance on a good day and having to give up my bicycle as I no longer have the range of motion to bend my knee for it :( I can be good with what I eat, but it is how I eat, as in not frequently enough most days.

Maybe in terms of accountability we keep food journals. I have done so in the past, but eventually fall off the wagon on it. A dietician at work gave me one where you indicate the time, quantity and what you ate. This gives you insight into the sometimes 'mindless eating' we engage in. IMO, I think it would be helpful to put out there what I ate and receive feedback on how to make it better/more nutritious/etc...

You should call it the "Waist Management" thread

A friend of mine just had a knee replacement and still recovering but so glad to have had. You could certainly post your daily food journal on the thread to help keep yourself accountable. Heck it may just end up being the two of us so we can post what we want. :D

I'll participate in the weekly weight loss accountability threads! Not until September though. Still in vacation mode until then.

Great - more people! Anyone should feel free to join in whenever they wish. I'll be posting every week till mid Sept. when I leave for 9 nights to West Vancouver to visit some of my family. I really need to stay diligent until then as we'll be eating out every day I'm away. :? Then back on track when I arrive back home.
