At todays Planning & Public Works Committee meeting the question was asked when this project will be starting. The public information centre is on the 26th for area residents to get more information on what will be happening along with timelines.

The project will then go to tender approximatley March with construction beginning sometime shortly after that in April. Its been a long time coming for residents west of the tracks who have neen more than paitent.

Regional Chair Gary Carr asked staff to ensure that this doesn't happen again. This should have been completed before the homes were built.

Thanks mike. Will any info on this be posted online?
Like which designs are being drawn up?

I'm not in town that week and would love to see some pix if possible :)

Thanks. Can you post up time-lines when the underground passage will be usable by cars? For someone moving west of the tracks in a few months, i'm curious if i'll have to wait for trains constantly. Unless the trains are being diverted for a few months?

Since I've lived here in almost 4 years, the trains only got me probably 10-12 times which is nothing.
If you're a contractor who crosses often (8-10 times a day) I can see it annoying and likely hitting it more. I don't cross it more than 4 times a day.

BUMP. Just a reminder that the PIC meeting is tonight from 6pm to 830. I'll be there from 6 until 630 as theres a Milton Community Consultation Committee (formerly Community Policing Committee) meeting later tonight.

If you head out, dont forget to say hi.

Just a brief history why it is important to build this underpass.
Almost 30 years ago 6 teens have tragically died at this train crossing.

Cactus, next time wear something distinctive and tell us before-hand!
Yes, Jennifer from the region was great. Very enthusiastic about her job. Got a great explanation on the stormwater retention basin they're building under the roadbed to handle large rainfall events to prevent underpass flooding. The tank allows them to use a smaller pump that's more accessible for the maintenance guys, and makes it more cost-effective to maintain down the road. Good life-cycle design! Loved her passion for the job. She said her job is to build it and hand over the keys to the maintenance department (great analogy). Cross-departmental communication in the design process clearly evident! Great stuff.

I was there. Jennifer from the region is a cool lady. Ask me anything, Tony and I have the facts.

Does this mean Tony will now have to change his canned response to...

It was a good crowd there tonight. The consultants and staff did a great job answering questions. Many people there tonight were relieved that the project is finally under way.

You mean you didnt see Cactus? You couldnt miss him with the sombrero and the bottle of home brewed beer. :)

Is there any updates for the project online?

Also, two links in the original post aren't working

If you go to the bottom you will see links to 2 PDF files, one containing the boards that were shown at the PIC.
