So, the Lego Discovery Center opens in Vaughn today.

Apparantly it will initially not allow unaccompanied adults. An adult can only get in with a child. What a role reversal. :) The Center is working on adult events though, but not finalized. Here's a preview piece with a video of the inside from a few days ago.

Also, in other Lego news, Chapters/Indigo has Lego on sale currently for 20% off. With your loyalty cards usual 10% off, that 30% in all. Not bad. Be warned though. At Indigo, they have 500 extra Plum (Indigo card) points stickers on the Star Wars Lego, but it doesn't work with your iRewards (Chapters) card. Odd since Indigo and Chapters are the same company. I plan to contact head office today to see what they can do.

Anyhow, a good time to stock up on Lego for upcoming children birthdays and preparing for Christmas.

I was shocked how much is available for kids, girls and boys, with Lego from when I was a kid. My boy will be happy.

Also, the Duplo brand, the toddler Lego, is on sale at Toys R Us today. Not sure of the deals. They started putting up signage last night before closing.

Cool stuff. We're still on the big Megabloks right now, my youngest is only 2. Excited to upgrade though.

And I think it makes sense that they force a kid to be there with the adult. Lot of jerkoffs going and buying out all of the cool LEGO kits and selling them on eBay.

The LEGO Minecraft kit was selling for $100 at one point on eBay.

Apparantly Hasbro has their own kind of Lego called Kreo-in that can be used with Lego. Turns out Lego couldn't patent the blocks. Star Wars with Lego and Star Trek with Kre-O. Putting aside geek stuff like that super-heros Lego, their "City" building stuff is impressive. My mind is blown over how good our kids can have it.

Nice. Is it predominantly an amusement park thing? Is there decent retail space for Lego products?

I'm also curious when Target comes to town, whether they will have any Target exclusive Lego.

Very nice to see Lego and Duplo have products geared to girls too. Not just boys.

Yes it is predominantly an amusement/ interactive centre.
There is the retail store that is separate from the legoland centre.
They also have birthday rooms for children's parties.
I personally liked the display of Toronto and its surrounding buildings. It captured the architecture of T. downtown. From a design perspective. the layout of this facility is very nice.

Thx. Since the Discovery Center is separate from the retail, I imagine the retail has no restrictions on admittance the way the "amusement" side does.

I'm not sure exactly what the restrictions are. That wasn't discussed.
I would assume the retail section would be completely open to the public.
Restrictions would impact sales significantly. After all, it would be adults making purchases, not children.

The new Vaughan Mills Legoland Discovery Centre Opens today

If you take the kids, be sure to post a review - looks like fun...

$18 entrance fee; and I love this - Adults must be attended by at least one kid.

In addition to Indigo/Chapters, turns out Toys R Us also has the 20% off Lego or "building toys" deal.
