Woke up this morning with the answering machine flashing which is my first clue that power went out and noticed also the heat was low, but the furnace fan was on. Figured the pilot light or something must have gotten mixed up.

My fix was to

1. Turn off the digital thermostat
2. Turn off furnace breaker
3. Wait 1 minute
4. Turn on furnace breaker
5. Turn on digital thermostat

Worked for me.

Tim

Thanks Tim!!! I had the exact same problem this morning and had no clue what to do to fix it.

I now have heat again!

Thanks!

thanks Tim!

my husband is home with the boys today ( i am at work) so i will make sure he checks the furnace before it gets too cold. he loves when i call to "check up on him"

btw, was anyone else driving to work ~ 6:30 am and saw all the street lights dim and then get bright again? it was creepy... i thought maybe something extra terrestrial was happening. i almost expected Will Smith to walk out with his dark sun glasses

What freaked me out was when Q107 went down at the same time the street lights did. I was right at Derry and Trudeau.

What I've done in the past when the heat 'resets' is to turn off the heat, turn the temperature down to zero. count to 30, turn heat back on, and then set the temperature back to the regular set point. I find that this usually does the trick.

SNAFOO.
It was reported by 8.30AM in the news as the major power failure.
150 traffic lights went off. They are using contractors to manually reset them.

Could have tried that, but you know how it is...must have heat or I'll never hear the end of it!!!
