Hubby and I are currently living over by the hospital and are hoping to make the move back into Old Milton. We are looking for a home with an inground pool.

Any chance that any of you (or someone you may know) have a home that fits that description and are looking to sell sometime in the next few months?

Hi Steph! It all depends on your budget.
Your timing isn't all that great since old Milton is scorching hot right now - record prices because many people are doing exactly what you're looking to do.

Your first step should be to ask one of your friendly neighbourhood realtors to set you up with a non-invasive (weekly perhaps?) list of homes in old Milton so you can track the prices to help you prepare. (Your post makes me think you're going to start the search on your own (?) so any info you get will definitely help set expectations as you begin the search.
It takes us a whopping 60 seconds to create one of these searches, so don't be shy, pick a realtor and ask away! :)

Maybe you should make up a flyer to this effect and deliver door to door in the areas you are interested in most.

I think that's a great idea, it's an excellent way of connecting with someone who plans on selling in the near future & possibly bypassing the need even for a realtor.

Thanks everyone! And even though I have heard great things about FredD, I do have a realtor and he does send me listings as they come up that match what I'm looking for - I was just hoping to get an inside scoop since I know that Old Milton is hot right now.

I'm not pushing any particular realtor, but I have had the opportunity to watch many old Milton listings come and go very quickly. Make sure you're working with someone local, that they know what you want, and are reaching out to you immediately on listings that you might want.

As I understand it, the listings go up on the local board first, then get posted to MLS in bulk the next day. Local agents will get an immediate alert when new listings go up. In my neighbourhood, the rumour mill starts a few weeks before a house is actually listed (the good agents are on top of this) and on day one there are usually offers in. By the time it hits MLS or your daily email update, it's already conditionally sold.

This area is hot right now, trying to find a house by yourself or with an out-of-town agent can be challenging.

I kind of like the quaintness of Old Milton as I was driving by some of the quiet sections within Oak St. and west Laurier recently. Is there a fairly large variety in home sizes (i.e 1300 sq ft to 2000 sq ft), and are they just as expensive as some of the newer Mattamys, but with more baggage from old age like leaky windows, foundation leaks, and old piping/wiring?

I'm still on my first house, but I am starting to believe that old houses problems are better than new house problems, particularly Mattamy ones.

I can't imagine having to struggle with Mattamy, Tarion and all the issues in the first two years. In a 20+ year old home, everything is just routine maintenance, no? Replace the windows, shingle the roof, etc.

To each their own.

Omg I love living in old milton. We have been there 15 months now (dorset Park). We previously lived by metro.

Don't ever see myself leaving old milton unless it is because I move to oakville!
