Also, out of curiousity, why the need for all day train service from Milton? What is the percentage of regular GO passengers that would use this? Why not try to serve the greater population that use it on a daily basis during the regular rush hours, instead of using the same resources to serve the very few, possibly infrequent users who would benefit from all day service?

Sorry it has taken me a few days to respond, I'm on my to Ottawa as I type this for meetings with the province's Minister of Transportation and Infrastructure regarding the two asks below. I am re-posting the reason why is crucial that we get the Milton East GO station, and all day train service. If you look earlier in the thread, there are more explanations as to why. As soon as I get back from Ottawa Thursday or Friday, I will update everyone with which provincial ministers I met, and what is the word, according to them I.e timelines as to when we should get what we need from them on this issue. Next week 3 Milton councillors and I, with Mayor Krantz will be going to the Association of Municipalities of Ontario (AMO) conference in Ottawa to advocate Milton's needs to provincial ministers. I want to deeply thank Halton Region Chair Gary Carr for arranging opportunities for us to speak to the issues that Milton faces in meetings with the provincial ministers, and also for advocating Miton's needs with us, at those meetings.
My number one goal next week in Ottawa is to very clearly express Milton's transportation and infrastructure needs, i.e. Milton's urgent need for the immediate planning design and implementation of a Milton East Go station at Trafalgar and Derry roads, and for the coordination and funding of all day train service to Union station. In 5 years Milton will have the same population of Oakville or Burlington. Both of which have 2 GO stations and all day train service to Union to service their residents' needs. Both of these supports were promised to us by the government of Ontario, and then they changed their mind. Well, I sincerely hope, that the provincial government hears us, loud and clear, and then acts as our partner in the growth by delivering these two critical promises to Milton with an announcement within the next 8 months. We need to start working on the Milton East GO station ASAP, because it will take 2 - 3 years just to design plan and build. By that time Milton will have a population close to 120,000 - 130,000. As for the all day train service, that will also take time to coordinate with CN. So I'll be saying "let's put this to rest with a green light, an announcement, and start working on it now".
If you look at my earlier posts on this thread, you will see how important these two promises made to us by the province, are critical to maintaining our quality of life. I am very fortunate to be able to go and advocate in person to our provincial government ministers regarding this need, and I look forward to working with the other councillors and staff until this issue is resolved in Miltonians' favor.
