Anyone have a white noise machine kicking around that they no longer use or need?? Thought I'd try here first

no but if you have a humidifier that you can plug in that works for me. Sounds like one.

You can easily create (or download) a white noise MP3
Then play it however is most convenient (through usb drive, burn to cd, etc)

Saves you an unnecessary expense

Ya I'll do the humidifier tonight, I tried a couple sound apps last night. Wasn't good for me. I'm a special case ;)

Give this a try, works great on me, it's an 8-hour program. There are dozens of these in there, some of the rain and ocean ones are pretty good too.

Not sure how to save or download something like this, not sure if you want to keep an Internet connection open all night.

You can get many free apps depending on browser to download from sites like Youtube
If you tried looping all night sooner or later it is going to buffer

I can't sleep without one either, grew up with the sound of a mechanical fan always on (fan in the hot summer, humidifier in the dry winter).

My wife got annoyed by the fan, so I had to try alternatives. Went through several apps and electronic devices but they just didn't work. Ended up with this mechanical white noise generator which is awesome. Well built, fits in my suitcase for business travel, and I sleep like a baby. A bit pricey, but you can find 20% off coupons everywhere for Bed Bath and Beyond so it's slightly less ridiculous.

We have a small fish aquarium in my daughters room, with the filter running it creates white noise.
I find she has been sleeping better since we got it. A good buy for under $40.

http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00E6D6LQY/ref ... 1_ST1_dp_1

It has ridiculously good reviews on amazon...

Many people use something like keepvid.com and you can select the sound only (mp3) option.
