Why doesn't everyone just buy an e-bike from Rick?

Hi Everyone,

I believe this issue is the most important infrastruture issue we face as a community. As I discussed in the Champion's on-line questionaire, and on Cogeco's taped candidate sessions to be aired next week, I promise that if you vote for me this will be my biggest infrastructure priority. As you will see on my website, and all campaign literature from me, I have listed the parking situation at the Milton GO station as the #1 issue that I will address by voting for me.

This issue to me is our biggest challenge because there are 55,000 new residents moving to Milton over the next 6 - 7 years, and currently the GO station's parking lot is full by 7:30am. Most of the new residents coming to Milton work in Toronto, however the province has said this issue may not be resolved for 18 years. By that time Milton's population will have doubled. In 2010, I promised voters that if they voted for me, I would make the widening of Britannia road my biggest priority. I did, and am very happy Britannia will start to be widened this year 8 years ahead of schedule. I will apply the same commitment and determination in resolving this parking issue in the short-term if you vote for me.

Thank You,
Tony

I completely disagree. This isn't the most important infrastructure issue we face as a community. The fact that you think it is is highly disturbing.

How about Councillors and candidates thinking outside the box a little and stop moaning about Metrolinx. Come up with a made in Milton solution. Take the unused hours of Milton Transit, the rarely used space at the fairgrounds and combine them into a park and ride ( to the Go station) - kill two birds with one stone!

Just one thought - I am sure there are many more if some lateral thinking was employed!

Is there any chance we can do something with a couple of the routes on Milton Transit? Look at demographics in terms how many people living along a specific route also take Go; take the one with highest amount and then run it as an express bus somehow for that period of the morning?

Or what about developing some kind of permit system for the Loblaw parking lot?

The town of Milton councillors and mayor should come up with an alternative solution to this massive issue . there have been some great ideals for alternate parking as well as shutteling. With 50 thousand plus moving to town majority of people who live communte to work. Lets attempt to fix the issue now in its early stages before it becomes a complete disaster

My hubby came with the idea of a bus shuttle to the Go station 2 years ago, I told him his idea was stupid, now I read that some of you are thinking about it...

A bus shuttle. Otherwise known as Milton Transit. Seriously. ALL the regular bus routes are basically GO station shuttles.

Half the time the people using transit arrive at the go ether running for the train or missing it completely Transit is suppose to align with the go train times. Go operators always complaining how inefficient transit is in milton.

Councillors easy solutions.......fix the problem. That's what u get paid the big bucks for. Representing the people of milton.

I think a fair amount of people arriving at GO late are doing so after dropping kids at school/daycare and the station is their second stop. It is not practical to go home and ditch the car then jump on milton transit. A shuttle from a large unused space close to the station may be something to look at in the interim. It's a shame there isn't a parking lot right next to the go station that barely gets used during core working hours, maybe at a grocery store. Surely someone could broker a deal to make effective use of that space, that would win votes.

Like everyone else, the buses are probably stuck at multiple poorly timed stop lights or delayed by the "12 year Main Street project" but, you are right, this particular problem is nothing that a little rescheduling can't fix.

Great solution but unfortunately it's not that simply when you have kids to drop off at daycare or school given that fact the limited amounts of train times are slim, the last one being at 808.......great suggestion though. It is probably not a big issue for you since your reply was well thought out.

We carpool to the go station but drop our son to daycare on the way. We got a carpool stop but there are only 4 spots for carpools, and they are usually full as we can only take the last train. Go transit was allowing people to park at the end of parking row but they now issue $25 tickets.

Taking Milton transit isn't feasible for us. Plus the bus stop is a 10 minute walk in the Harrison neighborhood. Are there any plans to have the bus take Dymott to be closer to more residents.

Can the town leadership talk to Loblaws and get parking permission as we as residents are there customers too.

Zeeshan/Tony /Rick can you work on this issue as parking will soon be full by 7am if we don't do something now. Suggesting people drive to Lisgar isn't just dumb on Go Transits part.

Thanks.

Does anyone go down to Oakville and take the Go from there? Increased drive time with an express train could equal the same total time. Is there still parking available in their structure after the main rush or does it get full?
