I found out today that the Bell phone line will not be available for my new home until May 30th because of some engineering issue. :x
I placed the order few weeks ago and only now they are telling me that there is a problem.

I have to look into other options.

Does anyone else has had the same issue ?

It's not that long.. maybe just use your cell phone for that period of time.

This is a common thing for new construction as the houses close faster than the supporting infrastructure can be done.. You'll notice a lot of that in Milton.

I've actually called Cogeco last week to find out the same thing. I am looking into the Digital Phone, Digital Cable and HighSpeed Internet. They said that they have to send a field technician to the ph15a to see if it is available....I will get an answer within a week.

I'll let you know what they say when then call me back.

My wife told me today that someone called us last week to inform that there is a problem and they will let us know this week.

I just called in today to change to confirm the data/time of install and found out that there is a delay.

The problem is that they wont tell me what the problem is, they just call it an engineering issue. So it is frustrating. :x

Vonage will still require a high speed internet connection such as Cogeco cable. Personally I don't think I can recommend Vonage anymore due to many connectivity issues.

As for what Bells problem is.. they probably need to dig some wire and then add some hardware to bridge the street.

Nope, because there is a lot of processes that have to be done through the town planning and the developer first. That will take an indeterminable amount of time.

Isnt the infrastructure like phone/cable laid first before the city approve the builder to start building.
This is bad planning by the city.

I think we have one member at this forum who works for this company. Something similar to TACC. This kind of company is taking care of the infrastructure. Starting with empty field, clearing the ground, excavation and brining all communications, pawing the roads. Only after it is done actual construction by Mattamy begins.
My guess it is something like wrong planning. Missing substation or distribution hub.

I am going to try vonage or Primus broadband for phone service.

Dont want to wait Bell to correct their problem. Cogeco digital phone is also not available in Phase 15A.
