If you don't want to deal with Sears, I'd just go to another mattress store and see if you can bargain them down. Mattress prices and "sales" are a joke anyway, including mix-and-match. They have some sort of fake sale every two weeks. We got a King mattress and boxsprings that were listed retail at $3295 for like $1280, tax & delivery included. And it wasn't on sale either. They tried to get me on the mix-and-match BS at the Milton sleep country, and said they only had 2 sets of those particular box springs left in Canada. I ended up getting the exact same mattress at another sleep country location for $300 less, and no mix & match. Ridiculous. Don't trust those guys as far as you can throw them.

Appreciate all the should have shopped at Sears in town and supported Gerry comments. Sorry you are having problems Rick, hope it works out for you. Come and see us if you need help.

We can get anything Sears sells through the store not just what we have on display. And if you want to call in an order rather than do it online or call the Sears call centre we can handle that for you as well.

Just a couple of comments on mattresses/foundations. The term foundation and box spring are often used interchangeably. It is the support piece under the mattress. They stopped calling them box springs because there aren't any springs in most of them these days. A mattress can be placed on a foundation or a bed with it's own support such as a simple plywood platform or slats or those wire supported by spring bases... The purpose of the foundation is to support the mattress and make the bed a comfortable height. If you are getting a very thick mattress then there are low profile foundations available so that you don't end up with a bed that is difficult to climb into. As was pointed out never buy a bed at regular price, they are always on sale or going on sale. Mix and match at Sears means that the foundation may not match the mattress in fabric style but who cares since the mattress is usually covered by the bed sheets anyway. Mix and match is essentially an always on sale option but may not be the best sale price for a particular mattress.

And just to let everyone know it helps more us at the store when we place the order (either by coming in or calling us) rather than placing the order online, calling Sears or shopping at another Sears and having the item shipped to Milton for pickup. In other words I'm compensated better when we handle the sale.

Thanks again for the comments.

Hate to say it but SEARS and online purchasing etc is just so 80's. Hence why we never order there. Heard too many stories like yours...

Heh.. I almost bought one as I saw the thread about the ridiculous deals at Sears for mattresses (it was so good most figured it was a price error)

I been ordering from Sears online for years. Never had any problems. Their products are of good quality and a decent price. Love it.

I had an almost identical situation. Very long story short, I also got a $10 gift card and the credit card charge did reverse itself a few days later... Haven't shopped at Sears since and doubt I ever will again.

Hey Rick

I don't know what your next move is but if you find that Sears just can't satisfy your needs and you need to go elsewhere keep the Sleep Factory on Main St. in mind.

I worked for the company during my college years. They were a great company to work for. They are 100% Canadian owned and operated. I've purchased a couple of matteress sets from them over the years and they've stood the test of time. No premature breakdown or sagging.

If you need more details please feel free to PM me.

Wow. Thanks John!! I hadn't seen that. Just read that news article. Some of those experiences were fiarly similar to my own. Especially with their customer service reps on the phone repeatedly giving contradictory information.

Btw I did get finally get them to reverse the charge they put on my credit card.

Sears is totally out of business now you should shop at Costco.ca for beds

+1

I originally purchased a Tempurpedic from Sears, on the delivery date when they didn't show up, they told me a different date... On that date, another.

Even to cancel the order I had to wait for 3 hours on the phone for their "customer service". This 3 hour call was married with call drops from their side that would ring, and evenually go into a busy signal. All of their call centers are based in the Philippines, and they could definitely use some better customer service training over there.

I eventually settled on a novafoam mattress and am getting the best sleep of my life, for a fraction of the price for a Tempurpedic!
