Get a dog and train him to pee on your neighbour's tree.

i don't think it's a big deal.
but if you are so worked up about it, i'll second the cayenne pepper. but then you have red powder on your snow.

Bear urine.

Quote:
100% pure Bear Urine liquid and granules from Predator Pee. There are very few things that will deter or repel a dog, but Bear urine is an effective repellent for many dogs. Hunters will tell you that a dogs natural inclination is to flee from a bear and that hunting dogs have to be trained specifically to overcome that fear. If you want to keep unwanted dogs away, Bear Urine is a great choice. Also very effective to stop horses and even wolves!
100% Bear Urine - deter dogs, horses, wolves.

Sounds like a pretty useful substance. A little strategically deposited on the tree bark will apparently do the trick, refreshed as needed.

Funny though, I haven't seen a redeposit since Sunday, I hope they've moved on. I don't think I am being unreasonable about this, having to look at it every other day was getting me down. Dog people know very well they don't want this mess around their properties. Take a look at the leash-free dog park, it's an open sewer of animal waste.

Have you tried a sign?

I'm a dog owner and if I see any kind of sign, I don't let my dogs set foot on the property.

No, because then I'd have to always look at an image of a dog in the act of defecation, which is arguably worse than the occasional sight of the product itself. I've seen similar signs around people's houses, and it's not a good look. Thanks anyway (were you pulling my leg?).

The tree in question is the boulevard tree. Even though I know it is not my property or responsibility, I tend to it anyway as though it were. I prune it, removing any retina-scratching branches, since the ToM has never and will never. I weed, feed, overseed and mow the grass for the same reason. So seeing prominent deposits of animal waste on it, 25 feet from the front door, makes me a bit annoyed.

Have you tried Critter Ridder. Can get it at Home Hardware, Canadian Tire, Home Depot. Smells like black pepper. Works on squirrels. Keeps them out of my planters.

The sign actually makes no mention of any bodily functions and the dog is just sitting there, but if the property isn't yours I guess you can't put a sign.
There really isn't a product that solves this problem because dogs are just trying to pee on the highest point they can so their scent carries. If you get rid of the thing protruding from the ground, they'll pee somewhere else. My dog would pee on a giant pile of dog repellent if that was the only high spot available.

100% BearPee appears to be the brand name and not the actual product description... I don't think there is an idiot alive that harvests bear urine for for $2 an ounce lol

This is apparently a for-real thing. It seems that hunters started it all, when they realized that dousing themselves in the urine of harmless woodlands critters like rabbits and squirrels prevented their prey (deer, etc.) from detecting them by masking their human stank. Yes, it's all very weird. Anyway, it seems that the urine of the entire animal kingdom has some desired effect to either attract or repel other critters, except Humans apparently.

This guy goes by the moniker The Pee Man. I don't think he takes the task lightly either, he seems to be quite proud of it. Also, he seems to be a bit of a comedian, as you can read here.

I'll post results if this situation gets escalated to Code Yellow.

Apparently lovelythanks4asking walks around town scooping up dog crap all day long. Maybe you could ask him/her to stop by your tree each day with a sponge to soak up any urine that's there.

In the scope of things touching pee is less gross that pooh. So you might find that you have an ally.

Just buy some doog food from Canadian Tire and scatter it around the tree. The dog will sh*t moth eggs for a month.
