Hello all,

Just sharing a message from Milton Says No. Please see below :D

Tomorrow is an important day. As part of the requirement of the environmental assessment, CN is required to hold an info session for the public. This is taking place TOMORROW, July 16.

We--Milton Says No--will be there to protest and to count attendees to be sure the environmental assessment agency knows that we care as a community. This is not a traditional protest but one where you simply need to stop by, we will be there all afternoon and evening, we will have a letter of opposition for you to initial and bring in to CN at their open house.

Every single person matters and will be counted so please, just stop by even if just for a minute or two to show your opposition to the CN intermodal terminal. Mayor Krantz will be in attendance, as will our town council, and Regional Chair Gary Carr is expected. Media may also be present.

There are TWO sessions, afternoon OR evening. Just try to stop in for one, you don't have to stay long, we realize everyone is busy in the summer! We will also have our petition there for signing if you haven't signed it already. This hard copy petition is headed for the House of Commons from our entire town and region.

TOMORROW (Thursday, July 16)
1 to 4pm OR 6 to 8pm
AT the Best Western Hotel, 161 Chisholm Drive, Milton

See you there and thank you for your community spirit and for your support. We are all doing this together Milton.

Milton Says No!

@ Jeff and Priscilla

Thanks for sharing the info. I also think it's important that we don't loose momentum so we can keep pushing against CN's intermodal. I'll be there tonight and I hope every one can do the same.

I wish Mattamy organized something to go against this and haven't heard of anything yet. I know a lot of other builders have site plans for the area so I hope they also voice there opinions against this as it can hurt them as well.

Well said lopes66. I hope Mattamy and other builders are there as well. I hope to see a lot of Milton residents there tonight and people who purchased in HSV.

Quick reality check on what builders care here.

They have no problem to build residential in near proximity with highways all over GTA, which is proven health risk.
They have no problems to sell homes under hydro power lines, which are recognized in some developed countries as health risk as well.

Generally builders have no problems to develop and sell anywhere in GTA.
I'm aware only of two locations where sales slowed down in the past.
Some homes areas in west-end of Brampton, years ago it was only place in GTA I'm aware of where homes have good price, but they were build and people are not buying, while the rest of GTA was gone already with buy before build or even developed deals.
And another place was in North-York, where they build, but not enough buyers and builder was offering free car as bonus with new home purchase.
Both cases have nothing to do with what was located around, BTW.

I was just here and can't find anyone representing Milton Says no or any petitions or letters to sign. Sigh...

Yes, we all know, people love to buy houses especially new ones, in the GTA. However, if I walk into a sales office, look at the site plan and see that the houses are near a major highway, at least I know up front I will be living near a major highway and I have can decide for myself if this is something I can tolerate or not! See the difference here?

Hopefully it is because most people are at work and will show up this evening. Thanks for letting us know Sandeep.

If I live beside a highway, I’ll be reminded of it every time I look out the window.

If I live beside an intermodal, I’ll have no idea. It’s set far back and has a treed hill ringing it to block any view.

The truck traffic will suck, but that will be throughout town now that the Region has asked them to redesign the plan to route trucks up Britannia and down james snow. With such a wide area impacted, it’s not the builders job to notify you that Milton is just a horrible place to live.

The dump has one. Drive by, you can't tell it exists.

Also dropped by with the wifey to sign the petititon. They also provided us a paper to provide comments on their comments box. The black comments box is all the way inside and kinda bit intimidating to drop off the comments as there lots of people inside (media, camera crew, etc.)

If you look at the HSV site plan, you will see some houses are going to be built so close to Brittania. Those people, I am sure anticipated regular traffic noise, but not trucks barging up and down all day and all night. Do you really think Milton is a horrible place to live?

Although looking out ones window and seeing trucks zooming by on Britannia and Bronte 24/7 might provide a bit of a clue like.....not to mention the harmonious clatter of metal on metal, and bright light shining into the sky throughout the night.

I think anyone buying a house facing a major road like Brittania should know what they’re getting into, trucks or no trucks.

Yes, I think that compared to the surrounding towns, with the exception of Brampton, this is the worst place you could possibly live. I find nothing about this town functional or appealing. I’m hoping to leave in a few years.

I like your honesty though I am not sure Milton Real Estate agents will. Oh well. Let's hope we can all sell our houses for a reasonable price if this becomes and even worse place to live in about two years time!

Curious if anyone from the " Milton Says No " group will be asking the CN reps in attendance, the names of those from the Region and Town who knew of this proposal last year when it was presented to them before the gag order was imposed? If you do, care to post those names that CN provides? Since our local newspaper seems to avoid asking this question.
