Not according to the people at Quality Seed, but it does need to be done soon.

As well, my neighbour who had a disaster lawn just two weeks ago, ripped out the old grass, added some soil, and re-seeded. Now the lawn is a bright green thick grass. I can only hope I have the same result on my boulevard.

I get my grass seed from Quality Seed in Woodbridge...and it works...they have different mixes for your needs...I've been using them for 5 yrs now.

Quality Seed bags the TSC brand of grass seed.

Right now TSC has a "Sceamin Deal" on a 10KG bag but our local store ( at Bronte and Main ) only has ONE bag left. It is 40% off bringing the price to $50. It is a good mix. All perennial grasses - 30% Kentucky Bluegrass, 40% Creeping Red Fescue, and 30% Turf-type Ryegrass.

That is a great deal. I swear by this stuff...

Better to seed when its cooler after summer. The ground is still warm from the summer months and the weather is cooler now so its really conditions to grow grass...water is key though...

In the spring I usually overseed May - Victoria day...not too hot and ground is warm enough

Hello! I have a tenant living in my home at Milton. And the lawn now looks like something out of Jurassic Park :). Can someone recommend a lawn repair company that can mow the lawn, clear off the weeds and maybe seed it for next year. Need this work done soon .. like this week!

based on what you have said, it appears new lawn has be laid instead of repair.

Your best bet is to call couple of lawn contractors, but it may be too late for this season. Your best bet is to do in next spring.

November is a great time to lay sod. It goes dormant for the winter and (usually) has a ton of melting snow in the spring to water it.

yes a new sod can be laid now, but you will not reap the benefits of seeing it growing in the spring as such spring was recommended. The new sod can be disturbed if people walking on top of it, so spring makes sense unless it has time to grow now, which is slim.

backyard -> using Google maps measurements :P 32 feet by 22 feet. And maybe a little work on the front yard which is maybe a quarter of that size.

(Google street map accuracy + mouse click accuracy + conversion accuracy = +- 40% accuracy :)

 Now is a fantastic time to lay sod. Any new homes getting sod now are in luck. Next spring their lawns will be established and will likely not need any additional watering or care other than normal fertilizers and weed control.

 But,,,, FOR CRYING OUT LOUD, when you do have a new lawn and a few weeds start to grow, get rid of them before they send out a thousand or more seeds.

based on the rough calculation, it appears you have about 1000 sq feet and estimating at about $2 to $2.50 per square foot, the total cost around $2000 to $2500. This is based on the removing the existing lawn and its associated weeds, laying out top soil entirely and putting back new sod. Some others in the forum have done the relaying of the sod, as such they can confirm this estimate.

Probably a bit late now but that will depend on the weather. I planted some seed about 3 weeks ago and it has grown well but now you are pushing it. If you plant now and we do not have many freeze-thaw cycles then a percentage of the seeds will survive the winter and grow in the spring.
