I was there yesterday and wasn't impressed.
What are your thoughts on this event?
I haven't heard much on the positive side.

We were pretty disappointed. A handful of food trucks with huge lines and that was about it.

It sucks because just like the farmers market and street festival all there really is are vendors selling overpriced crap, and long lineups for shitty food because for some reason people in this town like to eat garbage.

Is this thing put on by the chamber of commerce or whatever cartel runs the farmers market? Wouldn’t surprise me.

It’s the first year though so maybe things will improve.

We visited this event on Sat 4-6pm. Lot's of Food trucks which I didn't use as prices are too high and I don't particularly like eating on the run anyway. There were performers of varying entertainment value and many booths selling a variety of goods. The biggest issue for us was that the crowds were so heavy that you couldn't pass through the street in some areas. A lot of road space was occupied by the booths. Kids had a great time though.

Not the kind of venue that is practical for Great Dane's on a leash or the Mega strollers that were in abundance. Parking was a hassle for many but I managed to snag a departing car space. I think these next weeks should see fewer people and make it a more enjoyable event for all. Let's face it, many these events fall into the "something to do" category.

My wife runs a bunch of markets throughout the year under her company: Makeology. The show's vendors are usually juried/selected and most of the stuff, while the offerings are not always competing for lowest price (not made in China stuff), it is of high quality, handmade and unique. She is looking to organize a small intimate pop up market next Friday evening at the Orange Snail Brewery. Still finalizing the details and vendor list as it is coming together really quickly.

You can get an idea of her past markets:

And there is also a larger one coming up downtown Toronto:

If anyone is interested in going, I'll post more details soon!

We went around 12:30, so shortly after it started. The only music was being played from some food trucks, and was not remotely "Christmas-y" or holiday music. There was no live entertainment (yet). I saw a few MLM stalls (LipSense, Lularoe, etc.) in addition to the food trucks, and that was it.

Nothing says Christmas like signing people up for pyramid schemes.

I’m not the one inviting them to the “Holiday Market.”

Well at 2:30PM yesterday Dec 9 the Dollarama behind the Mall
was quiet enough so that I had the cashier all to myself

Normally when theres a crowd there
you'll have 2 to 3 shopping carts ahead of you in the checkout line
