Hello,

Another lost cat post... is anyone looking for this cat in the Derry and Scott area? He has no collar, and he's been outside for a while.

Let me know if he looks familiar! I posted this on Facebook also, in the Milton Talk group and Lost/Found Pets of Ontario group, but no luck so far.

Thanks!

Same answer, call the OMHS please. Those people are all you need, forget FB etc.

Found A Pet – Oakville & Milton Humane Society Recovered Pets Program
Have you found someone’s beloved companion?

Your first step: If you’ve found a stray pet in the Oakville or Milton Areas call the Oakville & Milton Humane Society.

During office hours you will be able to speak to the Lost & Found department to log a found report. If an owner is already known, you may be given information on reuniting the pet with its family, or the option to bring the animal to the shelter.

After hours, you will reach the answering service. They will take your contact information and the description of the situation. They will send an Animal Protective Services Officer to pick up the pet from your location. You will be able to reach someone at our number 24 hours a day, seven days a week, even on public holidays.

The other cat found her owner, she keeps coming back to play maybe once per week. She’s in much better shape, not hungry, just comes to have some fun then she goes away.

But this one seems really lost, so I’ll take the advice! Just wanted to wait a few days, so see if someone can recognize him.

Good! Glad. You seem to be quite the cat magnet there.

Have you ever had any serious responses from those FB etc. groups? Sounds like a waste of precious time, especially in the cold. I would think the majority of pet owners who have lost a pet would think of the Humane Society first and as the best option for help. Don't shy away thinking it's an automatic death sentence, their priority is to avoid that where possible. Both of ours were adopted, best way to go.

Also, if the cat has a microchip, the Humane Society can scan it and contact owner. And as B&T402 said, if owner is not found, cat will be adopted out. My last 3 cats came from there. One of my cats was there for 2 years before I came along and adopted him.
