Just felt I needed to show my support for our troops overseas in Afghanistan (and any other place they may be). Felt the need to say this after hearing about the disgusting mentality of those at city hall in Toronto for feeling the need to let their political stupidity (we'll just call it that for now) get in the way of supporting our troops. If you dont know what I'm talking about, just pick up a paper or listen to the news. Shame! Has history taught us nothing? Let's hope they do the right thing and right this wrong. Just my 2 cents.

Couldn't agree more!

Hard to believe how politicians, with so many more pressing issues, have the time to worry about the ribbons supporting the troops. Sadly, there is no cure for stupidity.

If they're so concerned that it offends those opposed to our military presence in these nations, then they should focus their attention to getting those brave men and women home to their families, not on trivial matters such as this.

What else can you expect from David Miller and his bunch of socialists running the Toronto city hall.

Toronto is most expensive and biggest city of Canada; it is main economy engine too.
So bad, for many, it is not Canada anymore.
Afghan is the biggest source of the heroine. One of our troop’s assignments is to help them to stop doing this. One of the main problems of Toronto is crack sold by those drug dealers protected by liberal justice which is common way of justice in Toronto. Army has to be send to Toronto City Hall to restore the true justice and protect our rights to be free from all criminals. From drug dealers to high ranked thieves from City Hole of Toronto. They are not only criminals they are Taliban supporters. Drug dealers who selling heroine from Afghan and Miller's mafia who are against of our army mission to stop heroine attack at Western Civilization.

I 100% agree.

Miller is an ASS! That's why I live in Milton.
You gotta to be crazy to live in that terribly run city.
I work in the city, but let me say, once my job is done, I drive the hell outta there as fast as I can. (speed limit) :)

I fully support our troops, hell I even support them staying as long as the need to to get the job done, even if that means past 2009. I think this is one of the few things I agree with Mr. Harper on.

Now when it comes to the bumpers of Toronto ambulances and fire trucks, I think it is fair and appropriate for individual fire halls, and ambulance pools(?) to spend the personal money of there individuals to place these emblems on there trucks. I don't think it should be paid for with tax dollars. If the city chose to spend tax dollars supporting troops, it should be done through services for the injured, and their families, and not through tacky magnets, where over half of the money is likely going to the manufacturer.

Now that the money is long since spent, I'm just ambivalent about the whole non-issue, leave'm on take'm off, I frankly don't find them very supportive or evocative of sympathy. A hand tied ribbon says I care, a slapped on magnet says, I felt guilty at the checkout counter. They have about as much troop support, as a bumper sticker that reads "honk for jesus" has piety.

...

Wow I didn't know I felt that way until after I started typing.

Good to hear! Would of been political suicide for anyone who voted against it. I guess they do have some brains afterall.

".......political suicide"??

I think the damage has already been done. The rest of the country will probably boycott Toronto as a tourist/vacation spot. I know I would.

To even have to go through the motions of a vote for this, is completely LUDICROUS!

Miller's got 3 1/2 more years before another election, so he doesn't care. Unfortunately, Torontoians will probably forget this by that time, hopefully not, but they probably will.
Then again, it might not matter as the last election there was only around 33% voter turn out anyways.

Hopefully they have all committed political suicide and they're all gone after the next Toronto election. Fingers crossed.

Well said everyone, it's refreshing to hear that we support our troops at least here in Milton. I mean, after learning about the horrors of past wars/peace missions, how could you not support our troops in their fight for peace and freedom.
