as for the "map my run" website, i checked that out a bit yesterday. but where my street is supposed to be, it's listed as a driving range! not that i can't get around that by using the closest starting point, i just thought that was odd.

Yeah, I think it is reliant on the Navteq maps, which can be a little out-of-date in some areas. Nonetheless, if you know some general markers on the "old" map related to where you start, run and stop, you can still map it with some accuracy and get your distances.
