I knew I'd hear back from you. :) I like the styling of the new Legacy, and the WRX is a legend in the making. 8)

It's funny, my second favourite manufacturer is Nissan. Currently, helping a friend find a nice used G35.

Good to know; it isn't for me anymore. Their 3.5L (the VQ35DE, which I have), and their 8 cylinder engine (the VK45DE engine) in the Q45s, M45s and FX45s all burn oil. Luckily mine isn't (fingers crossed), but I'm checking the levels every single weekend. With all that said though, Nissan gives the best bang for the buck, and in fact, after testing the 2008 M35x last week, I'm considering upgrading to either that or a used Lexus GS430. Feel free to share your personal opinions with me here or privately on both those models. 8)

Flip side on the Subaru... while it is a fun car I have found the dealer network in the area to beyond bad. I unfortunately have had a "lemon" from them... which can happen, so I am not going to condem the brand... but the poor treatment from the dealer and incompetent service (like forgetting to tighten drain plugs after an oil change) means that I can only suggest that you stay away from them in this area unless you have a great mechanic.

Thanks for the heads up on the oil consumption problem with the VQ, I'll pass it along to my friend. Anything to look for, besides asking the previous owner (not be possible at used car dealer), that could be a sign of having this problem?

As for the M35x and the GS430, I'd probably go with the 35x for the AWD. The GS430 is RWD correct?

Oh and for carisma and anyone else looking for advice on cars, there's a good forum on redflagdeals.com that discusses auto purchases/ownership from a Canadian view.

I can sign up thru my work for Ford Recognition Program (Ford,Mazda, and Volvo) and they assigned me with a PIN number. What does this program gives me in term of pricing? Does anyone know? Thanks.....

Some models have excessive wind noise, and the Bose CD deck is likely to go bad at some point or not play music properly. Make sure to get your buddy to buy a report from www.carproof.com to make sure there was no accidents or that it was from Quebec or from US states where there were recent floods. Also, ask him to join a forum like this called www.g35driver.com

Nissan knows about the 3.5L engine oil burning problems, but continue to stymie customers, and not own up the way Toyota did with their sludged-up V6 engines from 1997-2001, or the way Honda did with their bad automatic transmissions in Accords, Odysseys, Civics and Acura 3.2TLs. There are no tell-tale signs of engine oil burning other than checking the level before the test-drive to see if it's low or not. Beyond that, it's a crapshoot. My VQ35DE is good so far, but get this: I have plastic valve covers (it should be metal!), which are susceptible to cracks with age, which then causes oil leaks. This is why I want to try out Lexus GS, which is RWD. Lexus is better quality, and is the most prestigious Japanese luxury brand vs. Infiniti and Acura (with due respect to the brands and to owners, and not that I dislike any of the cars).

Another question I have is lets say I leased my car (Nissan) originally from other province in Ontario, and my lease is up in march 08. And if I buy Honda , Do I have to bring it back this car to local Nissan dealer or can I just get new Honda and they will take care for me? I believe I have to wait till march to do this to avoid penalty however I'm still under km allowance (96000 km)...
